WORK PROJECTS AMERICA UNVEILS NEW LOGO INSPIRED BY HISTORIC WPA ERA
New Identity Draws on America's Tradition of Public Service, Community Building and Civic Pride
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Work Projects America today unveiled a new official logo and visual identity inspired by the historic Works Progress Administration (WPA) era of the 1930s and 1940s — a period remembered for public works projects, civic investment, public art, and iconic public service campaigns.
The new logo features bold vintage-inspired graphics, patriotic colors, industrial imagery, and classic poster-style typography reminiscent of the famous WPA posters that encouraged Americans to support public safety, literacy, health campaigns, transportation initiatives, and community improvement efforts during the Great Depression.
According to organizers, the new branding is intended to reconnect modern audiences with the spirit of civic responsibility and public cooperation that defined the original WPA movement.
"The WPA era produced some of the most memorable public service artwork and community-building campaigns in American history," said Mitchell P. Davis, spokesperson for Work Projects America. "Those posters inspired people to participate, help neighbors, work together, and build stronger communities. We wanted to revive that visual spirit for the modern age."
The original Works Progress Administration, established in 1935 under President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal, employed millions of Americans during the Great Depression. Beyond roads, bridges, parks, and public buildings, the WPA also funded artists, writers, photographers, journalists, theater groups, and public education campaigns.
Historic WPA posters addressed topics including:

The organization recently launched its first major campaign in partnership with Dial Deliver titled:
"Respect the Road — Someone's Dinner Is on the Way"
The campaign uses modern WPA-style poster artwork to encourage safer driving and greater respect for delivery workers on America's roads.
"The old WPA posters were bold, simple, emotional, and impossible to ignore," Davis added. "That style still works today in an era dominated by social media and fast-moving digital content."
The organization plans to use the new logo across:
-
Public service campaigns
-
Digital advertising
-

-

-

-
Civic awareness projects
