Dr. Lisa Knowles

July 2, 2014--For Immediate Release

Detroit, Michigan. The American Dental Education Association selected Dr. Lisa Knowles to provide an oral presentation at the 5th ADEA International Women's Leadership Conference in Barcelona, Spain, September 14-16, 2014.

Dr. Knowles' paper entitled,  "The Five Friends Approach: A Collaborative Effort to Improve Patient Care and Oral Health Outcomes," is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

"It's a great honor and a huge opportunity for me to get the word out about the oral and systemic links that dentists find in their daily practices of dentistry. How we collaborate with local professionals to get patients the care they need often goes beyond the needs of their teeth. Some systemic diseases actually cause the oral diseases. Dentists have to be detectives to figure out what disease came first and be astute in figuring out whom to refer their patients to when the findings involve other facets of the body. My five friends approach does just that! I cannot wait to share this information on a global setting. I am very thankful the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry encouraged my submission, and, of course, thankful this prestigious academy chose me to present my concepts," exuded Knowles.
