Bunny Hoest, whose comic panel, "The Lockhorns" is a mainstay of King Features Syndicate's comics lineup, has received the National Cartoonists Society's Tim Rosenthal Award from the Long Island chapter, The Berndt Toast Gang. The award is presented to an individual for overwhelming service to his or her chapter.

On June 25th of this year, Mrs. Hoest hosted her twenty-seventh "Bunny Bash," an annual gathering of over 100 cartoonists, writers, syndicate staff, their families and friends, at her home.

The award was named for the late Head of Syndicate Services at American Color whose pioneering efforts, along with Wiley Miller, set a new industry standard in newspaper comic color reproduction. It was presented by Mike Lynch, NCS National Representative, and L.I. Chapter Chair, Adrian Sinnott. The ever-gracious and humble Mrs. Hoest was taken by surprise by the award. Bestowing the honor during the "Bunny Bash" was especially fitting as Tim Rosenthal had often been a guest at the event.
