Jen Mueller featured speaker at Conversation Connection Workshop for GoGirl Academy

Jen Mueller featured speaker at Conversation Connection Workshop presented by GoGirl Academy on May 23, 2011.

Jen Mueller, Roots Sports reporter and Talk Sporty To Me blogger (http://talksportytome.com/) will teach an intensive, small group, hands-on workshop custom-designed exclusively for GoGirl Academy., Monday, March 23, 2011, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Conversation Connection Workshop presented by GoGirl Academy at Seattle's Four Seasons Hotel, 99 Union Street, Seattle, WA 98101.

"Making a useful connection in a short conversation is tough, yet it's such an important ability," says Mueller. "Sports topics make great small talk and create a chance to turn a simple conversation into a quick connection if you know how. You don't need to learn to love sports. What you're learning is how to make connections, build relationships and create opportunities."

The languages of sports and business are inextricably intertwined. We "hit a home run," "play hardball" and need a "game plan" all the time. But it isn't just a matter of understanding terminology. It's the way sports-savvy business people use sports talk as a way to bond with client prospects, warm up a room before a presentation and entertain customers at a ball game. Few people can talk sports like Talk Sporty To Me Blogger, Jen Mueller, a Roots Sports Network host and reporter for Seahawks, Mariners, Cougars, Beavers and Husky games. And few understand what being able to talk sports can do for women in business.

"I learned so much from Jen," said Margo Myers, GGA Executive Director. "I had no idea conversations have a power structure, or that men and women approach conversation so differently. The workshop she created for us is simply amazing. Women have loved it."

"I was pleased to learn that it was easier than I thought to join in on conversations about sports," said Cindy Olsen, Human Resources Vice President, Concur, and GGA alumna. "Jen Mueller has a lot of passion on this topic and delivers a high energy workshop which gave me confidence in talking sports with the men in my life."

Registration for the workshop is available at www.gogirlacademy.com on the home page on the lower right listed as: GGA Talk Sporty Workshop. Or go directly to the GGA Talk Sporty to Me Workshop sign up form. Capacity is limited. Registration is $99 for GGA Alumnae and $149 for the public.

Jen Mueller talks about Talk Sporty to Me: ( http://talksportytome.com/ )

In the fall of 2008, I was approached by a group of business women with a problem. By all accounts, these women were very successful. They were smart and well educated. These women have established solid careers, and had earned the respect of their co-workers and clients. But despite all their success, they felt they were missing out on valuable opportunities to expand their client base - at sporting events. The women were rarely invited to entertain clients at baseball games, or football games. Those same women often felt intimidated when conversations turned from business to sports. Their dilemma led to the creation of Talk Sporty to Me.

Since its inception, Talk Sporty to Me has been featured on KING 5, KOMO 4, KMPS 94.1, and MOViN 92.5. Watch the video profile of Talk Sporty To Me by Kim Holcomb of KING 5's "Evening Magazine." (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO78Ug5_fAE)
