At  many of my love events and book signings I get this question a lot: “What are easy, non complicated snack I can give to my child/kids?” So here are my opinions on great snack options that are not complicated

Healthy snack choices for kids

Snacks are an important part of a healthy diet for kids. They can provide essential nutrients and energy throughout the day, and help kids stay focused and active. However, it’s important to choose healthy snacks that are low in sugar, unhealthy fats, and calories.

Here are some healthy snack choices for kids:

  • Fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They’re also naturally low in calories and fat. Some good options for kids include apples, bananas, oranges, berries, grapes, carrots, celery, cucumbers, and tomatoes. You can serve them fresh, frozen, canned in water or their own juice, or dried.
  • Whole grains: Whole grains are a good source of fiber, which can help kids feel full and satisfied. They also provide other important nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and protein. Some good whole-grain snack options for kids include whole-wheat crackers, bread, and cereal; oatmeal; and air-popped popcorn.
  • Yogurt: Yogurt is a good source of protein and calcium. It’s also a good source of live cultures, which are beneficial for gut health. Choose plain yogurt and sweeten it with fresh fruit or a drizzle of honey. Avoid yogurts that are high in added sugar.
  • Nuts and seeds: Nuts and seeds are a good source of protein, healthy fats, and fiber. They’re also packed with vitamins and minerals. However, it’s important to note that nuts and seeds can be a choking hazard for young children. If you’re giving nuts or seeds to a young child, be sure to grind them into a butter or paste first. Some good nut and seed butter options for kids include peanut butter, almond butter, and sunflower seed butter.
  • Hard-boiled eggs: Hard-boiled eggs are a good source of protein, healthy fats, and vitamins. They’re also a convenient snack that kids can eat on the go.

Here are some tips for making healthy snacks more appealing to kids:

  • Get creative with presentation. Cut fruits and vegetables into fun shapes, or make them into skewers. Serve yogurt parfaits with layers of different flavors and toppings.
  • Let kids help choose and prepare their snacks. This will make them more likely to eat them.
  • Offer a variety of snacks to choose from. This will help kids find snacks that they like and enjoy.
  • Make snacks accessible. Keep healthy snacks on hand in the kitchen and in the car so that kids can grab them when they’re hungry.

By offering kids healthy snack choices, you can help them develop healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.

Heres’ a great snacking chip for kids but also for adults and any age: Humble Chips, an organic chip
