(UNITED STATES) June 12, 2012 – After every new birth comes a significant investment in various infant-care items. These products can quickly take over new parents' homes and make it hard to prepare their properties for sale. On the Home Staging Business Report blog, home staging expert Debra Gould provides advice to home stagers for staging the homes of new parents.

"Your client is already overwhelmed as a new parent and the prospect of selling their home and moving is probably enough to put them over the edge," says Gould. "There are severe limits on how many changes you can request of them. After all, in their minds a quiet and happy baby comes first, not a perfectly staged home."

Because new parents have limited time and energy, Gould recommends that home stagers keep their advice to the point while delivering necessary staging recommendations with kindness.

"Do whatever you can for your clients during the first visit so they aren't left with an overwhelming to-do list after the home staging consultation," advises Gould. "If you've taken the Staging Diva Home Staging Business Training Program, you know that a home staging consultation should usually also be a working session and how that affects your income and how much staging you will do."

Gould suggests that home stagers help their clients determine which baby items can be put away until after the house sells and which ones are necessities. For convenience, she also believes it is important to work out a method to keep crucial items hidden away on every level of the home. For example, a decorative covered basket can hold baby wipes and clean diapers so they are always handy but are not in view. When baby items cannot be eliminated, Gould recommends eliminating unnecessary furniture instead.

Gould provides a number of other home staging tips in the Staging Diva Ultimate Design Guide. For additional information, home stagers are encouraged to visit the Staging Diva website.
