5 Tips for Middle School and High School Students

1. Students need to organize their lockers keeping like with like.

2. Students need a quiet place to study. Studying in the den or in front of the TV does not allow the student to concentrate.

3. Students need their own desk, with drawers, and probably a hutch or bookcase -- especially if the school supplies a second set of textbooks.

4. Students need to have their own planners, as well as their own monthly calendar at home to visualize their weeks as well as their long-term projects and upcoming tests.

5. Students need their own filing system for papers that need to be retrieved for mid-terms and finals as well as their own action file. Students receive information for school events, assignments, checklists, etc. and need a place to keep the papers they need to act on.  Setting up a Take Action File for each student helps instill responsibility for their school and personal To Do's.
