Inspiring First Nations to share their stories in a book

Community Event inspires people to share their stories, drum and dance

Duncan, BC)… Local artists, musicians and author Julie Salisbury have joined together to celebrate the first day of Spring Saturday March 20th at the Quw'utsun Conference centre. This Cultural community event is open to all, and is kicked off at 2.30pm with Author Salisbury inspiring community members to share their stories by writing and publishing it in a book. "If you ever wondered what was involved in writing and publishing your story" states Salisbury, "You'll be pleasantly surprised that new technology means anyone can be a first time author" Mark Lakeman of City Repair will be the next speaker at 5.00 pm and he'll be inspiring community members to turn urban spaces into community places to meet and celebrate. The evening celebrations launch at 8.00 pm with a drum circle, followed by local band the Paradigm Shifters providing music to dance and celebrate. Everyone is welcome. Licadho Canada human rights non-profit will be raising money for victims of land-grabbing in Cambodia through the sale of one of a kind unique Art fabric clothing items.

When: Saturday March 20th Doors open at 2.00pm and close at midnight

Where: Quw'utsun Cultural and Conference Centre, Comeakin Room

Cost: $35 All day or $10 per speaker and $15 for Drumming and Dancing

Food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be sold by Comeakin Kitchen
