"1,2,3…"….Eyes on Kids First at Hamlin….help them grow by click, registration, by word of mouth, or by volunteering

Last year, New Education Options added enriched childcare services to its mission becoming fiscal agent to Kids First at Hamlin.  Here' some of their activities and how you can join in and participate with options to support their great programs. They have a few more places for children (register now) and plans to grow and to serve the Valley now and then Southern California.  A profile of a local agency licensed to provide services to 60 plus children near you…..

This summer children reached new heights at Hamlin Charter Elementary School at Kids First at Hamlin in West Hills, California.  By connecting kids to Science through Nature, the program sparked children's curiosity through learning themes, field trips, gardening, play, egg gathering and painting, special events, calculation and the arts.

Kids First at Hamlin (KFH) serves local Woodland Hills, Reseda, and West Hills children ranging grades K-5 in County District 3. This wonderful childcare plus academic enrichment program is open for the Fall.   As an affordable fee for service program that provides high quality, local, enriched services as a school site based, conveniently accessible before and after school program.

Kids First (KFH) focuses on the whole child, academics, socio-emotional development, and individual child school readiness. While readying kids for matriculating and for core subjects; it helps children to able to celebrate life and studies through exciting group and individual interactions.  From water play in hot weather to tie-die and from math to prediction, from juggling to acting, children experience a wide assortment of planned activities. They find a safe, beautiful, supportive place to be creative, to learn self-expression, and to explore.  They experiment, participate, describe and explore options, subjects, art forms and disciplines as they engage with subject matter, educational scaffolding, tutoring, great staff, and exploring the world around them.

Open now for this Fall, there are a few seats left. You can call 818-517-3651 and talk to Executive Director, Mrs. Lynda Reichbach, for more information to register for services in Academic Year 2016-2017 for before and after school during the term or to find out about programs year round. Some subsidized registrations are available from Children's Child Care Resource Services for parents or families that qualify.  Otherwise donations are welcome to provide scholarships or to match funder dollars to expand the program to other Charter or Public School sites.

This Fall, your child or children can join Kids First Kids.  Your children might build volcanoes to dragons out of clay. They might painted tableaus and color complex patterns.  They could have a drama lesson or see a Veggi Dome presentation. With your actions they might measure, weigh, design, plant, question as well as sing, drum and compose to make meaning.  They might by use protractors, ipads, their feet and bodies, work with beekers, djembes, ukeleles and jars (thank you GLOBE Elementary, Texas Instruments, Michaels, Lucky Stone, LA Parks, Remo Recreational Center, Charles Music in Glendale).

Your children will be encouraged to tell, describe and read or enact stories.  They will lead and follow, leap and reach to make meaning.  Using new and successful pedagogy the staff will provide a supportive environment.  Ms. Lebo has provides STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) materials to challenge children to explore word roots, as well as develop a passion for new ideas, phrases and words.

The Summer Camp Kids First Kids this year received a certificate from GLOBE Elementary Program and its partners, as well as Supervisor Kuehl, for their STEM/STEAM achievements.  Last year 10 little girls debuted for singing for scientists from 34 countries at the 19th Annual GLOBE conference at the Universal Hilton (see www.kidsfirst.la (video) tab).

With new tools they will photograph clouds this fall, work with hand held devices and school electronics to measure temperatures, cite cloud formations, keep journals, hear about aerosols, protect a coastal city city, solve migratory problems, find out about where we live and write songs or tell stories.  Call, register and join them or tell someone else about this opportunity for growth and development nearby

To help them grow if you no longer have little kids at home in Elementary School, you can donate a car to underwrite Kids First at Hamlin's Programs through New Education Options and Cars 4 Causes. You can also make a tax exempt donation to the sponsoring agency New Education Options, Inc. for KFH (by an underwriting gift through Fidelity or Charles Schwab's DAF Direct Program or through United Way of Greater Los Angeles or Arrowhead United Way).  Yes, they could train childcare program workers or create new jobs all the way out to San Bernardino with enough help to grow.  For this quarter, their Board welcomes a match for each $25,000 that they've raised to open new schools in the NW LAUSD Board service area in the San Fernando Valley.  Help KFH make a difference to help 30-90 children near you to succeed in school.  They will encourage a love for learning to develop and include subjects that drive student motivation, enthusiasm, focus, and courage through forwarding individual self-esteem and elemental components for healthy child development with a focus on enriching experiences including and not limited to tutoring, free play, citizen science, the arts, and ongoing attention, nutritional snacks, exercise, and safety.
