River Runs through 19 countries

Danube is uniting 81 million people around water issues- Peace Boat Launches this week…

LAUSD High School Media Teachers, Evie Seubert and James Gleason are headed out to the EU to join the International Youth Media Festival students with Cleveland Media Academy Students joining their peers on the boat.  This week our LA River Project moved forward with new funding for our army corps of engineers to work with the 11 miles of river the Mayor and EPA are restoring.  While LA looks to the river to reunite us and teach us new ways to be a megacity, the folks along the Danube are seeing possibilities to unite and learn from the past as well as invent for a positive future.

It's time for the Media Summit to meet in Belgrade, Serbia, but the boat is uniting studies, issues, languages, and tools in a trans-country, trans-border way to become fluent and apply one's studies.

The Peace Boat concept can be revealed from the links below.  The weather challenges, the shared resources, the immigrant newcomers, the ancient and new stories will be reflected in student projects about water and their 7 voices topics.

Watch the videos about IYMS.  Make donations.  Have fun with the Blue Danube and its ongoing translations, regenerations, remixes, and watershed issues.  19 countries are connected by this huge water body crossing large swaths of Europe and some of their educators and scientists may also be in Los Angeles at the GLOBE.gov annual conference (see links to classrooms below).

IYMS is creating on the boat to get to know one another and see others countries and using its unifying factor to spur tourism, conversation, and creativity.  At the same time, the ICDR.org agency is using coalitions and strategic planning to look for storm water solutions and more not unlike LA's County Flood Plain history. Our city and county's strategic planning and reorganization around our urban river may inform the other students and they may transform our own self image by what is shared.

On August 1-2, the Broadcasting Building at LAVC will feature two days of streaming participation for students and parents to share in the voices of the productions and see the films and film projects.  Thanks to LACCD and LAUSD collaborating for more local participation in this worthy annual project.  Thanks to the planners for their visionary work on Peace and filmmaking.

The international Danube Day is a light-hearted and celebratory event where organisations and institutions at every level of society from kindergarden through high-school, to churches, NGOs, scientific institutions and national or local governments are encouraged to participate.

The ICPDR acts as a platform for its contracting parties to coordinate responses to various environmental threats, formalised in the Danube Protection Convention of 1994. Since 2009, the Danube River Management Plan (DRBM) provides a roadmap for this. It contains a Joint Programme of Measures and aims to fulfil the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD). The ICPDR also implements the EU Flood Directive (EFD)
