The Road, the Romance, and the Passion- The Tournament of Roses promotes beauty, collaboration and supports the Arts

Every new year, millions of people visit Pasadena, the Crown City of Route 66, to enjoy a parade and a game. In person and through television, the entire nation and world is inspired to see the world anew by the floats and pageantry. The festival is tactile and progressive, and it benefits local hotels, restaurants, and clubs. Around the world, business, philanthropy, and cities  are inspired by the event to collaborate and support the Arts.

This year, impacted by the web, consumer and professional electronics, it's the state's living history and the region's commitment to culture, trade, songs, creativity and performance are being featured in the parade's theme. Legends and dreams are built from telling stories, each float individually will have a story to tell as well as the Grand Marshall.  Honoring The Tournament's meme and preparing for the California Arts Council January grant "Arts on the Air" Kulakswoodshed website is adding its own innovation and spin to the spirit of this annual Parade.  It is using its resources to  interactively use social media to have the whole region and the world remember what we value. Viewers worldwide will participate in the parade through their use of hashtags like #InspiringStory and #RoseParade. It's also possible to download a Parade app to watch bands, see floats, or stream online to many different places through new telephony tools and different sized screens.

Patrick Horn, songwriter and Presidential Leadership Scholar nominee, joined the Monday Night Open Mic Band at Kulakswoodshed.com for a lively cover of "Route 66" to honor the legendary Grand Marshall, Louis Zamperini,Torrance native, Olympian, World War II veteran, and subject of the new film "Unbroken" by Universal Pictures.

Volunteer, advocate and player at the web, Patrick posted a new song written when he lived in Pasadena to demonstrate the power of social media to touch people anywhere and everywhere with the power of music and self-expression. The new video shows how Kulaks Woodshed, a NOHO Arts "labor of love" operated by volunteers and run by donation, can entertain, enlighten and transform the lives of audiences and artists practicing their craft.  As a social enterprise and Emerge Pasadena Arts Council fiscal sponsee, the Woodshed allows new talent to be discovered and seasoned Grammy winners to share their expertise continuing the line of songs and talent than emerged from this Mediterrean Bionome from Hawaii to Nevada and across the Mother Road.

Kulaks Woodshed, a music listening club and songwriters showcase founded by Paul Kulak. The unique space offers artists a 5 camera shoot and streaming platform with archives. This local treasure and now world-famous venue heralds the New Year with a live simulcast on the Pacifica Network. You can make a tax-exempt donation to The Tournament of Roses Foundation to underwrite many arts programs that serve Pasadena residents. Social media can connect California Artists across the globe to new audiences. The Foundation through the Tournament of Roses to date has helped over 170 deserving organizations raising with our new year's pageant and activities over $2.5 million.  Your donation before midnight tonight will help deserving arts organizations to continue their good works and Kulakswoodshed.com will help you to enjoy stories tonight or all year long.
