Anyone who needs to write – or decline to write – a letter of recommendation for someone for business, academic, legal, or personal reasons can get a jump start at LettersOfRecommendation.net. The site has 175 sample letters to download, customize and print for free.
"I've just added two dozen new recommendation letter templates to LettersOfRecommendation.net," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "There are also new, detailed articles with tips on letter-writing and dealing with being asked to endorse someone personally or professionally."
Some of the letters at LettersOfRecommendation.net focus on personal character attributes, while others focus on academic achievement or business acumen. New letters include a recommendation from a coach and a recommendation for an employee who resigned or was terminated. A new category focuses on "dismissal recommendations," for when supervisor advocates that a probationary or temporary employee not be retained.
Also, new set of templates address how to ask someone to write a letter on your behalf, and, conversely, declining to write a letter if you don't feel it's appropriate to do so.
"LettersOfRecommendation.net has grown over the years to cover dozens of situations," Savetz said. "These letters are best used as a starting point, and can be easily altered by typing different or additional wording into the template."
The letters can be downloaded from LettersOfRecommendation.net in DOC form and edited in Microsoft Word, Google Docs or another compatible program. The text can also be cut and pasted directly from the site.
There are nearly 100 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
