"Food preparation is about more than just shopping," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "So now, for instance, there's also an expiration list that tracks how long perishable food has been in the refrigerator."
Among the new additions are the storage trackers that list general rules for how long various meats, fruits, vegetables, and roots last on the counter, in the fridge, or in the freezer. There are also broader lists for other supplies in the house. There's a shopping list with checkboxes for tracking the need for new bathroom, office, art, kitchen, baby and pet supplies.
Healthy eating has become a nuanced topic, so there are a lot of new specialty grocery lists for unique diets and medical situations. These include shopping lists for raw, DASH, kosher, gluten-free, low-sugar, low-residue, weight-gain and macrobiotic diets. Each one lists suggested foods as well as foods to avoid.
Finally, there are a few colorful menu planners for healthy eating. One breaks foods down into categories of how often they should be consumed, while another provides a guide for serving sizes. There's even a template where the daily meals can be written on sticky notes for easy planning.
FreePrintableGroceryList.com has more than 150 shopping lists with various columns, suggestions, diets, and menus. All templates are free to download and print as either a PDF file or a customizable DOC.
