In: Pure Sweat + Float Studio
Pure Sweat + Float Studio opened Friday at 3345 Prospect St. NW, next to Down Dog Yoga, with infrared saunas and float therapy.
Pure Sweat’s owner, Liz Baker tells: “The studio will be offering both full-spectrum infrared saunas by Sunlighten, and float therapy by Superior Float Tanks. Pure Sweat’s services meet each client where they are at in their health journey, creating a space to let go of daily stressors and relax with an abundance of health benefits. With five full-spectrum Infrared Saunas + a Deluxe Float room, it will be a ‘corner store’ for wellness.”
Baker added: “Pure Sweat + Float Studio goes beyond the sauna and float spaces to also serve as a space where the community can connect and learn. Guests will be able to not only unplug and recharge, but also partake in thoughtfully curated events. Within its wellness lounge, the Studio will host events with local mavens and health leaders, as well as offer retail to complement the services.”
Pure Sweat will offer different types of packages from single visits, monthly memberships, grand opening specials and more. Appointments can be made via Mindbody online or through the Pure Sweat + Float Studio app.
In: Definition Studio
Fitted into 1257 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Definition Studio is a local collective pop-up that occupies one of the narrowest storefronts.
Definition Studio tells us it “is an Istanbul- and Washington, D.C.- based Mediterranean Lifestyle concept that produces collections that combine style and function, while focusing on sustainable materials. Self-proclaimed Mompreneur Hatice Can Saglik founded the company while she was a student at the University of Maryland in 2006. As a jewelry designer, she loves creating fun pieces that will bring joy to those who wear them but also remind them of their connection and responsibility to our mother nature.
Coming: Kim Kardashian’s Skims
Well, some signage is up, and the business says it is hiring.
Co-founded in 2019 by Kim Kardashian, shapewear brand Skims is getting ready to open a store at 3300 M St. NW The corner spot at 33rd and M housed a Sandro pop-up — and was an Intermix store, before that, for years.
Selling loungewear, undergarments, and other clothes, for women as well as men, Skims is a brand that was valued at $4 billion last year.
Coming: Green Almond Pantry to Open My Little Chamomile
Green Almond Pantry at 3210 Grace St. NW is getting a sister restaurant. The popular spot in the Grace Street Collective was briefly closed for a kitchen renovation but reopened two weeks ago and announced an addition to its culinary family.
“Come late summer or early fall, chef/owner Cagla Onal will open a neighboring sit-down restaurant called My Little Chamomile, where she’ll feature her homestyle Turkish-Mediterranean cooking for dinner,” reported Washingtonian. “The intimate, 42-seat restaurant will be tucked away in the same hidden alleyway as fine-dining restaurant Reverie.
Added the magazine: The name is a condensed version of the nickname that Onal’s mother gave her 13-year-old daughter: “my little yellow chamomile.” The restaurant is also an homage to the kind of cooking Onal learned from her mom, using quality ingredients prepared simply. “I want to create a place where people feel comfortable, like they’re coming to their grandmother’s house,” she says.
Out (Temporarily): Todd Snyder
Once again, Todd Snyder is on the move, having departed its pop-up space at 3307 M St. NW, which is slated to become a Tesla dealership. Todd Snyder’s original spot at 3211 M St. NW was shut down after a fire at the top floor in the building last year. The men’s clothing store still plans to reopen there and thanks its customers for their patience.
