Today, we're going to talk about the YouTube Partner program and what you need to do to be eligible to get money from YouTube. Now, I hope you didn't miss episode 874 and 873. [00:01:26] All right, let's get into YouTube partner program. They have relaxed the requirements to getting into this program. Used to be like horrendously hard. Now it's much easier, but you still have to do some stuff to get into it. And and also, if you're in one of the countries that this hasn't been available in, I think they just put in 25 new countries that you can now apply. And even if you can't apply, even if you can't do it right now, you can get notified when your country is approved. So go ahead. This would be in your YouTube account on the earn page.

[00:02:05] And so that's where you would, um, either ask for a notice or go ahead and apply. Okay. So let's talk a little bit about this. Um, so they have reduced the requirements to only 500 subscribers. This is to get started with things like super stickers and super chats and super thanks uh, and the various types of fan funding. And I got to tell you that you get a kind of a boost. I don't know if this is written anywhere by YouTube, but if you do live streams on YouTube, uh, it's kind of like when you they started going live on Facebook, they would give you a big boost because they really wanted to push that, that program. So I'm not sure if that's the same on YouTube. But anyway, live streams are great. And you can also of course, the recording keeps playing. So anyway, to get in the program you only need 500 subscribers. You only need three uploads of videos in the past 90 days. If you can't do that right, you might as well turn this thing off. And then you have to have 3000 public watch hours in the previous 12 months, or 3 million public YouTube short views. And they always, in the documentation say valid. In other words, you can't go to Fiverr and buy some stupid thing that gives you a million views. You know, they'll they'll catch you on that and they'll kick you out and they'll never let you monetize. Now, of course, I'm always going to push you to sell affiliate products, sell your own products first because you can make money from the first video that way.

[00:03:54] But anyway, if you really want to to push this and get some revenue from advertising and these fan funding things, you shoot for 500 subscribers. This is your goal, your first goal. And once you reach that goal, you never have to, you know, let's say the next 90 days, you don't do crap. Well, you're still apparently you're still okay, but if you keep pushing it, then you can then apply for the next milestone, which is to get advertising revenue. So in that case you need 1000 subscribers. You need 4000 hours of public watch time within a 12 month period, or 10 million public YouTube shorts views within a 90 day period. So I think the 4000 hours would be easier to achieve unless you accidentally got a, you know, a really big hitting YouTube short. So when you reach these milestones, then you go to or when you're, you know, you should look at this ahead of time as you go into your YouTube account and in the YouTube studio, you have what's called an earn page. And this tracks the time, you know, the watch time and your subscribers and all that stuff for you. So you can see when, uh, when you're ready to go. So, uh, so anyway, uh, like I said, live streaming can give you a real boost on this, and it's exciting and fun to do. And there's, uh, you don't have to do much editing if you're just doing live. Just try to get your act together so you don't stumble your way through it.

[00:05:34] So that gives you a little boost, but you don't have to. You can do all recorded videos, edited and upload them, and then shoot for these milestones and you can start getting revenue from YouTube. Now, it's not as secretive as it used to be. They claim YouTube claims right on its partner program that for any ad revenue that comes in, you get 55% and they get 45%. Now, the reason you can't really pin that down is because, uh, more popular, uh, videos or more popular topics for the ad may cost more to the advertiser. Less popular would cost less. So you don't really know that when somebody is paying for an ad. And then and then also it's kind of an auction program. So if there's a lot of competition, there's the the advertiser that shows up is going to be paying more money. If there's less competition, they'll be paying less money. So anyway, it's still a very viable way to earn money. But you do have to to hit some milestones. But they've relaxed them considerably. They're going for that 500 subscribers and three uploads and 3000 watch hours to get started is not that big of a deal if you work it. All right. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
