The Institute of Management Consultants Southern California chapter consists of professional and certified consultant members in the greater Los Angeles area and around the world. Today, with the advent of online communications, IMC SoCal has expanded with members in Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, North Dakota and Athens, Greece and many other places around the world.
IMC SoCal Chapter Program for Consultants by Consultants
The IMC SoCal Chapter offers regular programs for its members and for guests. The programs focus on the business of consulting, and include topics on business formation and start-up, how to market, sales techniques, how to present a proposal, legal aspects of a consulting business, technology recommendations, strategic planning and methodologies, and ethics. The programs are open to the public. Member and non-member consultants, students interested in a career in consulting, individuals with work experience interested in transitioning to a career in consulting and business owners and managers who wish to meet consultants and learn from the programs are welcome to attend. In addition to regular programs, IMC SoCal has hosted tours at local businesses and city organizations, provided deep-dive workshops on trending technologies and consulting methodologies, held networking events for its members, and co-sponsored events with other organizations.
IMC SoCal Supports the Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) Certification Program
Our chapter began in the 1970s with most members from big consulting firms who applied for and received the designation of Certified Management Consultant (CMC®). Today, IMC SoCal members can join as a Professional member and, after a minimum of five years of experience as a consultant, can apply to become a CMC®.
The Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) is the most widely-recognized consulting certification in the world. There are currently over 8,000 CMCs worldwide, many of whom collaborate on client engagements in a number of countries. The Body of Knowledge for the CMC ensures a common framework or methodology and standards of professionalism with which to engage with other CMCs. Who Are Consultant Members in IMC SoCal?
All members of IMC SoCal adhere to the IMC USA Code of Ethics and a code of professional conduct.
IMC SoCal consultants advise businesses, nonprofits and public-sector agencies in areas such as organizational design, human resources, corporate strategy, information technology strategy, marketing and sales, finances and logistics. Today there are also consultants that focus on specialized training, public relations, market research, engineering, computer systems design and leadership development.
