Invasive species on cruise menus

As Maryland and the Chesapeake area fisheries promote the addition of the invasive blue catfish to restaurant menus, is that trend happening in cruise ships? Which ships or lines? How is it being offered, nightly or as a special? How is it being prepared? What reaction from the chefs, passengers, and crew?
What other invasive species are being offered? What geographic area? Which cruise lines? Which should be on that list?
What else should I ask?
Thank you.

What will increased fuel prices do to cruise prices?

Stories abound about price increases in summer airfares and beyond. What are cruise lines doing? Does it affect megaships more or less than smaller ships? Longer or shorter cruises? One geographical area over another? Will it speed up the process of conversion away from fossil fuels?
How much of a price increase is expected and when, if it will happen?

Or maybe they rallied their community to help a family in need. What I'm really looking for is women making a positive difference in the world in a way that may inspire and provide hope for others. (Men will also be considered!)

Why are journalists less interested in D-Day?

Even as close to the 65th Anniversary (Saturday) I still trying to figure out why more stories are not written or events covered.

I saw Voice of America covered the movie premiere of The Americans on D-Day Film at the American Legion Post 43 in Hollywood last month, but no one else showed. What gives. It was the only black and white war that literally liberated France and ended the Nazi concentration camps.

Now that President Obama is going to the Normandy Ceremony on Saturday, I still only see a trickly of reporters doing a story on it in advance. Why are journalists so spoonfed today, unlike the days of watergate, when everyone wanted to get the exclusive or a story they could call their own. Is the Internet the blame, or corporate, greed
media America?

I write a column for a NY publication, and I would love some good insight and quotes.

Do NEW apartment complexes lower property values.

Our city council is on an all out campaign to stop apartments, based on lowering property values, yet our research from Urban Planning Institute shows just the opposite. We are currently at 19.5% rental in the city and the last major apartments were built 22 years ago. Any help appreciated. One developer is attempting to build a multi-use retail/residential facility with 700 single family homes and 200 apartment units(upscale) on an undeveloped side of our interstate exit. The community is for it based on public hearings and the council is attempting to change zoning to stop it.

What do legal scholars think about the halt of the Moussaoui trial?

As an editorial writer for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, I?m eager for
guidance/short comments from legal scholars on yesterday?s decision by a federal
judge to halt the trial of confessed Al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui. As
news stories (http://www.startribune.com/484/story/303526.html) explain, the
judge has ordered an inquiry of whether a government lawyer?s coaching of likely
FAA witnesses warrants dismissal of the case. Is the judge on target, and if the
inquiry confirms serious witness tampering should the case be dumped? How can I
explain to skeptical readers the constitutional basis ? and the social value ?
of such a move? Does this snafu, and its possible result, cast any light
on/share any parallels with the federal government?s apparent willingness to
limit civil liberties as it pursues the ?war on terrorism?? I welcome any
e-mailed comments ? a short paragraph will do ? that can be sent by 2:30 p.m.
CST. Sorry, but that?s my deadline! Thanks, Kate !

I am doing an article with an angle on the effects on young children when their parents disagree and/or argue about their discipline techniques as one is giving the discipline. Is there any research regarding the child's awareness (prior to 4 years of age) that his/her parents disagree and that the child uses that to their advantage? Need source and quote for article.

Availability for radio interview?

This is Joe Dunphy, host of the internet radio show on taxes and financial planning called Poor Richard's Shoebox on VoiceAmerica.com. I will be doing two shows in the near future that involve tax planning.
On 11-7-05 The show topic is Tax Planning, taking a look at some of the new changes that people should be aware of for tax year 2005. We will not play up the bankruptcy law changes too much on this edition, as we will have already done a complete show on that topic.
The show runs one hour, and it is helpful to have two to three guests on different aspects of the topic.

And on 11-14-05, the show will be on property taxes, both for the individual homeowner, and how it translates in total into stronger or weaker municipal bonds.

e-mail queries to jfdunphy@verizon.net. Include name, e-mail, contact phone, title (s) of books you've written, professional designation, etc. into a 4-5 sentence introduction.

How does the Chicago-area economy measure against other regions and against the national economy? Is it better or worst?

My name is Stephanie Rycraw and I am a freelance journalist working on a perspective freelance story about the current economic climate of the Chicagoland area. I received your contact information from Crain's Business Resource Guide.

I would like to conduct a telephone interview with you to discuss the following topics:

How does the Chicago-area economy measure against other regions and against the national economy?

Do you believe that it is better or worst?

Considering the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, what kind of impact as these natural disasters had on Chicago's local economy?

Considering that some Illinois based companies, such as McDonalds, Sears and Allstate (to name a few), have been impacted by the hurricanes, what effect do you think this will have on job security in Chicago?

Looking ahead, now that Federated Department Stores has purchased Marshall Field's and intends to change the famed retailer's name, can we anticipate a consumer backlash resulting in layoffs?

Please identify at least two specific, tangible actions that you believe will bring business and help grow the local economy,

Other related topics.

Please respond to this email with your availability for the telephone interview. My deadline for this story is Wednesday, 9/28. I may also be reached at (773)793-1121.

Thank you in advance for your time and cooperation!

Regards,

Can you compare this skill with others that might be gained around this time?

Why should a senior-level executive choose one size company over another?

My audience is senior, high-level executives, and our biweekly print newsletter
offers information on job search and career advancement. I'm writing a story
about the advantages and disadvantages of working in companies of different
sizes. Why should a senior-level executive choose one size company over another?
What do small companies offer that medium and large do not? What can one expect
from a large company that isn?t available at medium and small? What size
companies are exhibiting the most executive level opportunity? How can one
determine what size company best fits their work/life needs? Responses are
invited from senior execs, recruiters, job coaches, HR professionals and search
firm professionals. E-mail first with thoughts or comments, and I will follow up
if a phone interview is required. I will attribute any published information to
the author.

The TOP TEN FINANCIAL TRENDS: What are we doing with the rest of our financial lives?

Now that we have . . .

We would like to talk about:
= population shifts (relocation; demographics)
= employment versus job retention
= virtual offices versus 9-to-5 positions at the company desk
= retirement planning and savings

Please forward your assessments for financial trends -- which some have already checked in with, including those on credits and deductions to save on tax dollars, social security revisions and employee retention surveys -- to daybookeditor@aol.com. DEADLINE is 5 p.m., EST, Tuesday, April 26.

Any helpful moving stories?

Greetings. I'm working as a freelance interviewer for the How To Survive series of books. Currently I'm gathering stories about moving for the upcoming book How To Survive A Move. Do you have a true account to share which will help others contemplating a move? Here are some suggested topics: How do you go about finding a good place? How to avoid buying a money pit. Bon voyage parties. Saying goodbye to close friends. What to keep, what to throw away. How do you find time to pack/unpack? How do you move heavy, bulky objects? What should ride with you and not in the moving van? Any helpful hints on moving pets? How do you help children adjust to the new house/school/neighborhood?

Please make your story personal -- include a true example you experienced as well as provide advice.

Thank you! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at graciela@comcast.net.

Summer time is approaching fast. That means lazy days, staying up late, and fun for all. But when September comes around again, how can parents help their kids get back into the swing of things? When should they start preparing them? What can they do to encourage a change in habits?

cleaning the dining room/restaurant

I'm writing an article (for a restaurant trade magazine) on the importance of not overlooking the dining area of a restaurant with cleaning as well as whether you do it yourself or hire a cleaning service -- what tasks must be done daily, weekly, etc.

I've come to see that the cleanliness of the dining area is more a customer service task than a health department task. Does that seem like a valid notion?

I'd appreciate any input or insights.

Thanks.

2. Are there individuals out there who randomly get your email address and spam with porn?
3. I personally have never had a porn email reach my inbox, but others have and get them daily is there a reason why some never get them and some always gets them?
4. If someone is getting porn emails and would like to stop getting them how would one go about it? Or is that just impossible? 5. How would I be able to ensure that my children aren't getting them? Thanks in advance, Virginia Bower

can we affect the economy of the arab nations by boycotting certain oil companies here?

1. certain companies have oil fields as well as refineries in the middle east: shell/texaco and exxon/mobil being the main ones.

2. is it true that the oil you buy in a shell station may not be the oil that shell etc. took out of the ground, due to mixing of different companies' oils during the refining and other processes.

3. if that is true, does it even matter? in other words, if we boycott the companies that do business with saudi arabia and iraq (even if we wind up buying mideastern oil at a sunoco station anyway), won't that still affect shell's and texaco's and exxon's and mobil's bottom line? and won't that work its way back to saudi arabia and iraq?

it seems logical to me that if we boycott those four oil companies, we will ultimately be hurting them - i don't care where they send their crude oil. at the gas station, they will be making no money. is this right or wrong?

How should we interpret the recently published studies linking night work with breast cancer risk?

Three studies were published in 2001 linking night shift work with an increased risk for breast cancer. Is this enough research from which to draw conclusions responsibly? Should women quit night jobs to avoid getting breast cancer? What about women who are already at elevated risk for breast cancer (such as women who have had a close relative die of the disease)... should they quit shiftwork?
