you can write a transformational bookMany aspiring nonfiction writers believe they are inadequate to inspire anyone to change. They don’t think they can impact readers lives. They tell themselves they aren’t experts, and, therefore, can’t have the kind of influence that motivates transformation. They say no one will read the book anyway…
This is far from the truth—no matter who you are.
I want you to know one thing: You are entirely adequate and can, indeed, write something—even a book—that makes a positive and meaningful difference in the world.
That’s why I want to challenge you to move past your feeling of inadequacy and write—and publish—a change-inspiring Facebook post, essay, blog post, ebook, or book in the next 30 days.

You are entirely adequate and can write something that makes a positive and meaningful difference.

It’s Important to Play Big
To help you understand the importance of playing big and moving through your fears and lack of self-esteem, here’s a quote from Marianne Williamson’s book, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles”.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
This month, stop shrinking and, instead, rise up tall and shine! As you write and publish your change-inspiring work, others will feel compelled to play big and shine, too.

September Nonfiction Writer’s Challenge
To complete this month’s challenge, write—and publish—a change-inspiring piece of work. This could be a long (300+-word) Facebook post, a personal essay, a blog post, an ebook, or that book you uploaded to Amazon and never released.
You may need to write something from scratch, polish up something you wrote previously, or boldly hit the “publish” button on Amazon or your blog. But that’s all there is to it—write and publish something that will motivate and inspire change.

When you realize how many people might need and want your book, you are more likely to take action.

Someone Needs to Read Your Message
Of course, this requires courage. You have to stop looking at the potential negative ramifications of putting yourself out there and, instead, look at the positive ones. When you realize how many people might need and want your book—and find it transformative, you are more likely to take action.
It means you must stop telling yourself you are inadequate and, instead, tell yourself you can have a positive and meaningful impact with your words. Reassure yourself that you have something to offer—and if what you have to offer comes from your heart and life experience, that’s enough. You don’t have to be any other type of expert to transform lives.
People are waiting for you to share what you know. Don’t keep them waiting. They need your story, message, answer, solution, information, or strategy now. Not later.
Tell me about how you took on this challenge by leaving me a comment below. And if you did, indeed, publish a change-inspiring piece of writing, include the link to the piece as well.
