I was sitting in Kim Ades’s office with the Frame of Mind Coaching team for our daily huddle when she turned to me and asked, “Hilary, what’s on your agenda today?”

After talking about my goals and my plan for the day, she asked, “Can you write?”

I assumed she was asking about writing proposals, so I quickly replied, “Yes, I can write!”

“Great!” she said. “I want you to write about your experience working here for the past two weeks. Oh, and make it quirky.”

Quirky, huh? OK, I’m up for the challenge, but as I began writing, I wondered if I should Google “how to write quirky articles.” Is that even a thing?

I started working at Frame of Mind Coaching two weeks ago. I was hired to work in the area of Business Development, and while my background is in Business Development, this is very different than any other job I’ve ever experienced. In fact, it’s like being on another planet. I wasn’t sure if this was even a real job. What do you mean I won’t be micromanaged? What do you mean I am free to think for myself and am expected to offer up my own ideas? What do you mean it’s OK that I work from home when my kids have the day off school, no questions asked? This world is so foreign to me, but I’m beginning to get the vibe.

I feel valued, trusted and super supported. My job interview happened over a cup of coffee, and when I was offered the position, along with it came the question, “What works for you, Hilary?” I don’t think I’ve ever heard those words during any hiring process! There is an open door policy here; there is no “walking on eggshells.”

I’m learning very quickly. Not just about this company, but also about myself. I’m soaking up the FOM principles like a sponge, and I want more…can I be a bigger sponge? I’ve begun implementing what I have learned so far. I am now consciously aware of my language and the direction of my thoughts.

What a game changer it is to wake up and WANT to go to work, to be happy about where I am, what I do, and who I work with. I feel lucky to be able to not only help people by introducing them to Frame of Mind Coaching, but to also be surrounded by unbelievably positive, happy, warm and accepting people while I’m doing it.

I truly and wholeheartedly believe that I am where I am supposed to be! Why? Because being here feels good!

And now I have a job for you. Take a moment to really think about your work environment. What is working for you? What isn’t? What needs to change for you to enjoy your job more? The people? The job itself? You?

The answers to these questions are worth exploring, but you may not be able to do it yourself. Thankfully, the Frame of Mind coaches are experts at pinpointing what exactly is getting in the way of you having the job and the life you want.

I’d love for you to experience some of what I’ve experienced here over the past two weeks by scheduling a free coaching call with a Frame of Mind coach. Start by taking our assessment.
