MORRISTOWN, NJ (Expansionary News Service) July 31, 2016. Americans would not be as anxious about the prospects of a Trump or Clinton presidency if they had the option to recall via a national referendum any future sitting president they clearly believe is taking the country in a wrong or dangerous direction.

Or so writes noted futurist and social trends expert Dr. Michael G. Zey in his recent article appearing in The American Thinker "Americans Deserve a Presidential Recall Option."

Dr. Zey, author of Ageless Nation (Transaction Books, 2014) and The Future Factor (McGraw-Hill), says that Americans would welcome the opportunity to be able to remove a sitting president at any time after that person has been in office for a minimum of 12-18 months.

In the article  Dr. Zey describes one recall proposal in which a national vote would be held on a single day to retain or remove the sitting president whenever  two-thirds of the state legislatures  petition for such a vote. If the nation votes out the sitting president, the House speaker  could complete the recalled president's term, or voters could choose the recalled president's replacement at the same time they are actually voting on whether or not to remove the current president.

In his many media appearances and live events, Dr. Zey has stated that the  recall option will help address Americans' growing fear of an ever more powerful administrative state and executive branch.

In the article, Dr. Zey calls for national polls to assess Americans' desire for a Constitutional amendment creating the presidential recall option. Also, the current presidential candidates should be questioned during the debates about their willingness to support such a recall option.

In his forthcoming book The American Future Zey says that limiting the power of the executive branch and the central government in general is critical to future US prosperity.
