The waves of change came crashing down, shuttering tens of thousands of businesses and leaving millions of people behind. Forecasts of life in 2030 arrived a decade early. Overnight, science fiction blurred reality. Uncertainty and complexity guaranteed post-pandemic disruption and transformations. Consequently, 54 percent of CXOs in a Deloitte survey selected adaptability as one of the top three most critical workforce traits, more than technology savvy and alignment of values and more than double the importance of critical thinking, creativity, empathy, curiosity, and even inclusivity. Unfortunately, 70 percent of these CXOs don’t have complete confidence in their organization’s ability to pivot and adapt, identifying adaptability as their No. 1 workforce capability.
