Washington Stage Guild: Online Play

Washington Stage Guild has made a performance of “Don Juan in Hell” — the dream sequence from George Bernard Shaw’s “Man and Superman” — available for complimentary viewing on YouTube through Nov. 29. Directed by Associate Artistic Director Steven Carpenter, the cast, who performed from their homes, includes Nathan Whitmer as Don Juan, Emelie Faith Thompson as Dona Ana, Bill Largess as the Statue and Morgan Duncan as the Devil.

Kennedy Center: Holiday Market

On Black Friday, Nov. 27, Victura Park at the Kennedy Center will transform into a festive holiday market with a lineup of local artists, craftspersons and other vendors of gifts and prepackaged food items. Light snacks, beer, wine, spiked cider and hot chocolate will be available, along with hot food from a grilling station. Open on weekends through Dec. 20, hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. (market closes at 6 p.m.) and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. (market closes at 6 p.m.).

Wolf Trap: Streamed Performance

On Nov. 27 at 8 p.m., Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia, will stream a solo performance by folk singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter, recorded without an audience at her “hometown stage” at the Filene Center. There will be an encore stream on Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. The performance will later be released as a live album. Streaming passes are $24 including fees.

Keegan Theatre: Live-Streamed Plays

The Keegan Theatre will live-stream “From Gumbo to Mumbo” by Drew Anderson and Dwayne Lawson-Brown, directed by Duane Richards II, on Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 28 at 10 p.m. and Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. In the play, a science teacher turned rhyme speaker from New Orleans and a dreadlock-rocking Southeast D.C. b-boy conjure a cauldron of hip hop, poetry and theater. “From Gumbo to Mumbo” is streaming in repertory with the world premiere of “Trans Am,” directed by Fred Berman, in which Lisa Stephen Friday shares her trans journey to music by Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday. Performances of “Trans Am” are Nov. 27 at 10 p.m., Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30.

Politics and Prose: Streamed Author Talk

On Nov. 30 at 6 p.m., Politics and Prose bookstore will live-stream “Warhol: A Yuletide Tale,” a talk by Blake Gopnik. Former chief art critic at the Washington Post, Gopnik is the author of “Warhol,” a new biography of the Pittsburgh-born High Priest of Pop Art. Admission is pay-what-you-can, with online purchase of the book encouraged.

Blues Alley: Streamed Performance

Legendary Georgetown jazz club Blues Alley will stream a performance by D.C.-born singer Christie Dashiell on Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. A member of Afro-Blue at Howard University, Dashiell went on to earn a master’s degree at Manhattan School of Music. The show is part of Blues Alley’s Monday Night Jazz Series @ NPC. Tickets are $15.

U.S. Botanic Garden: Online Demo

On Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m., the U.S. Botanic Garden will present a free online demo, “Plant Impressions,” by Deputy Executive Director Susan Pell. Dr. Pell will demonstrate how to create and use an herbarium press to turn fresh-cut plants into long-lasting treasures. To work along, participants will need: freshly collected plants or plant parts; stiff material such as plywood, thick cardboard or wire fencing for the frame; cardboard or foam pieces; and rope, bungee cords or ratcheting straps. Registration will close on Nov. 30.

Shakespeare Theatre Company: Online Conversation

Shakespeare Theatre Company Artistic Director Simon Godwin and Literary Manager Drew Lichtenberg will kick off “Shakespeare Icons,” a new Shakespeare Hour Live online series, on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. The guest will be Des McAnuff, former artistic director of Canada’s Stratford Shakespeare Festival and director of several Broadway musicals. Tickets are $10.

Tudor Place: Illuminated Garden

Tudor Place, 1644 31st St. NW, will present “Merry & Bright: Tudor Place Garden at Night” on Dec. 4, 5, 10 (members only, free admission), 11, 12, 18 and 19. Visitors will experience sparkling garden rooms, twinkling lawns and shimmering tunnels of light in the historic estate’s five-and-a-half-acre garden. Timed entry for one hour is available at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, $10 for ages 4 to 18 and members (free to members on Dec. 10) and free for age 3 and under. Masks are required and social distancing will be in effect.

Dumbarton House: Christmas Programs

Starting on Dec. 5, Dumbarton House, 2715 Q St. NW, will offer virtual and in-person programs focusing on the history and celebration of Christmas during the Federal period. A $5 donation is suggested for access to the Dumbarton House Christmas Tour Video. A $10 donation is suggested for access to the video and a packet of holiday-themed activities and recipes. A $20 donation also includes a personalized Dumbarton House Christmas Card. Donors of $100 and up will receive these benefits plus an hour-long evening tour of Dumbarton House, decorated for the holidays, for up to 6 people, led by a museum staff member (to be scheduled between Dec. 5 and 18).
