Will France win the World Cup this Sunday, the day after Bastille Day? Saturday, too, will be très sportif, with a “Baseball Americana." family day and an Argentina Heritage Polo match. In between Capital Fringe shows, spend time outdoors this weekend, cleaning up Theodore Roosevelt Island and picnicking with sculptures at the Kreeger Museum and to the sounds of folk and Southern rock in Rose Park. Capital Fringe: ‘Marx in Soho’
On the bicentennial of Karl Marx’s birthday, with “Das Kapital." 150 years old, Howard Zinn’s “Marx in Soho." — presented by Iron Age Theatre at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 555 Water St. SW, as part of the Capital Fringe Festival — offers a humane alternative to capitalism. This weekend’s performances are: Friday, July 13, at 9:15 p.m.; Saturday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, July 15, at 2:30 p.m. Additional performance dates are July 21, 22, 25 and 27. Capital Fringe: ‘1 2 3’
As part of the Capital Fringe Festival, Theatre Prometheus presents a play about abandonment and ballroom dancing at Christ United Methodist Church, 900 4th St. SW. In this tragicomedy, inspired by true events involving the Ohio 7, three sisters are broken apart and brought back together by the crimes of their radical parents. This weekend’s performances are Friday, July 13, at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 14, at 11 a.m. Additional performance dates are July 22, 27 and 29. Tickets are $17 plus a Fringe button ($7). Made in Hong Kong Film Festival
The Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, 1050 Independence Ave. SW, host the 23rd annual Made in Hong Kong Film Festival, a nine-film series of free Friday night and Sunday afternoon screenings. The opening film, on Friday, July 13, at 7 p.m. is “Shock Wave,." a thriller directed by Herman Yau. The festival continues through Aug. 12. Bastille Day a Day Early
A day-early celebration of Bastille Day will take place on Friday, July 13, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Embassy of France, 4101 Reservoir Road. Showcasing food and wine from France’s Alsace region on the Rhine, the event also includes a silent auction, live music by the Hot Club of Baltimore and dancing. General admission is $115. Proceeds benefit the Tricolore Committee, a nonprofit network that supports D.C.’s Francophone community. For details, visit eventbrite.com.

Bach Festival at Grace Church
Also on Friday, July 13, at 8 p.m., German organist Roland Maria Stangier will perform works by J. S. Bach and his contemporaries as part of the 25th Bach Festival at Grace Episcopal Church, 1041 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Tickets are $25 ($10 for students). Potomac River Cleanup: Theodore Roosevelt Island
On Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, Potomac Conservancy and the Friends of Theodore Roosevelt Island invite area residents to get their hands dirty for clean water. The morning of volunteering will take place at Theodore Roosevelt Island, accessible from the Virginia side of Key Bridge or by car via the northbound lanes of the George Washington Parkway. Picnic Day at the Kreeger
The Kreeger Museum, 2401 Foxhall Road NW, invites area residents to picnic in the museum’s sculpture garden on Saturday, July 14. There will be a docent-led highlights tour of the garden at 11 a.m. For details, visit kreegermuseum.org or call 202-337-3050.

‘The Laws of Base Ball’
As part of a “Baseball Americana." family day, John Thorn, official historian of Major League Baseball, will give a talk on Saturday, July 14, at 1 p.m. in the Whittall Pavilion of the Library of Congress’s Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First St. SE. Thorn will discuss recently rediscovered original documents from the 1857 meeting that established the rules of the modern game, on view in the “Baseball Americana." exhibition. To register (required), visit eventbrite.com. Argentina Heritage Polo
The first Argentina Heritage Polo Tournament will take place on Saturday, July 14, at 3 p.m. at the Summerhill Polo Fields, 19999 Jerusalem Road in Poolesville, Maryland. Sponsored in part by the Embassy of Argentina, the event — which includes live Argentine music and asado (grilled meats) — is a benefit for the Garrahan Hospital, a Latin American pediatric hospital which has treated over 18 million children free of charge since 1987. World Cup Final Viewing Party
On Sunday, July 15, Lou’s City Bar, 1400 Irving St. NW, aims to make patrons feel as if they are in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium watching the World Cup Final. Brunch and beer and food specials will be available starting at 10 a.m. and the DJ’s name is Ivan. Preferential entrance tickets are $5 and $10. Exhibition Design Talk
Mark Leithauser, senior curator and chief of design at the National Gallery of Art, will give a free talk, “From Dresden to Diaghilev: Forty Years of Exhibition Design,." on Sunday, July 15, at 2 p.m. in the National Gallery’s East Building Auditorium, 4th Street and Constitution Avenue NW. Folk and Southern Rock in Rose Park
Also on Sunday, July 15, at 5:30 p.m., E.P. Jackson & the Last Well will perform a blend of folk and Southern rock at a free concert in Rose Park, P and 26th Streets NW, as part of the Citizens Association of Georgetown’s Concerts in the Parks series. There will also be family activities and treats including free Sprinkles cupcakes and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Attendees can pre-order a picnic supper from Via Umbria. For details, visit cagtown.org.
