Smithsonian Craft Show
The most prestigious juried show of fine American crafts in the country returns to the National Building Museum, 401 F St. NW. On display and for sale at the 37th annual Smithsonian Craft Show will be works from 120 artists, including basketry, ceramics, decorative fibers, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art and wood. Show hours are: Thursday, April 25, 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 28, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20. Jazz at Dupont Underground
Jazz vocalist Changamiré will perform on Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Dupont Underground, 19 Dupont Circle NW, with a quintet featuring Count Basie alum Lincoln Ross on trombone, Clifton Brockington on piano, BT Richardson on bass, Steve Walker on drums and Donvonte McCoy on trumpet. Georgetown French Market
The 16th annual Georgetown French Market, presented by the Georgetown Business Improvement District, will transform Georgetown’s charming Book Hill neighborhood — Wisconsin Avenue between O Street and Reservoir Road — into a Parisian-inspired open-air market. More than 35 locally-owned boutiques, cafes, salons and galleries will feature designer goods, art, home furnishings and French fare, with some items up to 75 percent off. There will also be face painting, a caricature artist, roaming street performers and live French and gypsy jazz. Eat, Drink & Be Literary! in Hillsboro
On Friday, April 26, from 5 to 9 p.m., the Old Stone School, 37098 Charles Town Pike in Hillsboro, Virginia, will host Andrea Wulf, author of “Founding Gardeners: The Revolutionary Generation, Nature and the Shaping of the American Nation.” Her talk will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20. Jazz at Duke Ellington School
Also on Friday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m., the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, 3500 R St. NW, will celebrate Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington’s 120th birthday at “Jazz City,” featuring performances by keyboardists Cyrus Chestnut and Marcus Johnson and the Duke Ellington School of the Arts Jazz Orchestra, directed by Carroll V. Dashiell Jr. The event also includes the presentation of the 2019 Daryl Libow Social Justice and Davey Yarborough Excellence in Jazz Award and “Duke’s After Party and Jam Session.” immediately following the concert. Family Day at AU Museum

Carousel Day at Glen Echo Park

Frühlingsfest at Heurich House
Oktoberfest’s little sister, German for “spring festival,” will be celebrated at the Heurich House Museum, 1307 New Hampshire Ave. NW, on Saturday, April 27, from noon to 4 p.m. Participants can purchase beer from Atlas Brew Works and food from Rocklands Barbeque, get their hands dirty beautifying Sonny Bono Memorial Park across the street from the museum, paint botanical watercolors, plant succulents, make flower crowns and take a flora-and-fauna-themed tour of brewmaster Christian Heurich’s Victorian mansion. Pre-Kentucky Derby Party
The Kentucky Society of Washington’s 38th annual pre-Derby party will be held on Sunday, April 28, from 1 to 5 p.m. at River Farm, 7931 East Boulevard Drive in Alexandria, Virginia. The event includes Maker’s Mark mint juleps, big hats, seersucker, country ham, burgoo, live Bluegrass music, bourbon balls, a silent auction full of great items and a table of Kentucky merchandise. Nonmembers are required to pay 2019 dues.
