Every year, the range of cremation products at the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) expo expands as the U.S. cremation rate keeps going up. Here are three unique funeral products which were introduced at the 2018 convention in Las Vegas, NV.

SongPods of Solace™

AmyLee has been making SongPods Of Solace™ for decades. These hand-welded metal musical instruments gently chime when they are shaken. They can be made to contain the cremated remains of loved ones. All profits from sales go to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation at AmyLee’s home in the Appalachian foothills in Ohio. Learn more at www.SongPods.com.

Ash Beads

Merry Coor is an artist who makes glass beads for jewelry which incorporate cremated remains (or ash). She starts with glass rods, which she melts with a torch. She only uses about a half teaspoon of ash in the bead-making process. She can make beads for necklaces, Pandora bracelets, pendants and rings. Customers can place orders through the funeral home, which would get a commission, or directly with her. The creation process takes from one to seven weeks. Her work comes with a satisfaction guarantee. Learn more at www.AshBeads.com.

Photo Remembrance Ornaments

Rick Nunn started a website called UPhotoit.com, where they turn photos into keepsakes. They take uploaded photos and apply them to various products, including memorial Christmas ornaments, photo tiles, and photo sports balls. At the ICCFA expo, he was offering ceramic remembrance ornaments that feature up to three photos of a loved one, along with an inscription and different color backgrounds. These can be gifts from the funeral home to the families they serve, or family members can make them for each other through the site themselves. Some people have asked if the ornaments could be made to hold cremated remains – he’s working on it! Learn more at www.UPhotoit.com.
