LAS VEGAS: The highly anticipated Fontainebleau Las Vegas has announced an official opening date: Dec. 13. The 67-story property—the tallest occupiable building in Nevada—is the first western expansion for the brand. It'll offer more than 3,000 rooms and suites and 36 first-to-market restaurant concepts from around the globe.
SALT LAKE CITY: Stuart Webber recently joined Visit Salt Lake as director of convention sales. In his new role, he will pursue citywide conventions with more than 1,700 attendees from the health, medical, public administration, legal, and governmental markets. He previously served as Sioux Falls Convention Center’s director of sales since 2007.
SAN DIEGO: Hispanic Heritage Month takes place Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community. To celebrate, the San Diego Tourism Authority is highlighting San Diego luminaries in the arts and sports communities, from music and visual arts to soccer and baseball. This includes Rafael Payare, the music director for San Diego Symphony, and Roxana Velásquez, the Maruja Baldwin executive director and CEO of The San Diego Museum of Art.
SAN FRANCISCO: Entire Productions announced Jitter Garcia as the new vice president of operations. In her new role, Garcia will spearhead the expansion and growth of Entire Productions' business divisions, enhancing the company's portfolio in full event and entertainment production, as well as virtual and hybrid events. With a tenure at TelevisaUnivision, Garcia has been instrumental in orchestrating experiences at iconic events, including the Latin GRAMMY Awards, Cannes Lions 2022, the UEFA Champions League Final in Madrid, and the annual Univision Upfront event, to name a few.
WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Walter E. Washington Convention Center announced that it has been awarded LEED Gold certification. The convention center uses a variety of sustainable strategies like low-emission glass that minimizes temperature fluctuations, sensor-controlled high-efficiency lighting, and a dedicated energy management system in its central plant. Highly efficient bathroom fixtures reduce the demand for water supply and waste systems. Paint, adhesives, sealants, and similar building materials contain low to no volatile organic compounds.
