Jack Benny once said, “it’s not what you say, but when you pause.”
And although he was talking about his fabulous comedic timing, this quote is very insightful. At least I think so.
We are overwhelmed with our 24/7 connectedness, doing things all the time, overwhelming our brains and rarely take time for a pause. Or use a pause to our advantage.
Just think when some of your best ideas come to you…
In the shower? While on a walk? In the waking hours of the morning?
These are the times when we have paused, uncluttered our brains, and inadvertently allowed creativity to flood into that space.
I’d like to challenge you to think about when you pause. Or if you do it all. And if you’re satisfied that you are allowing space to “reset,” great. But if not, let’s think of ways we can press pause so that we can be surprised with what comes next.
