The Caring Generation® Radio: Strategies for Caring for Elderly Parents

Golden CO- Caregiving expert Pamela D. Wilson hosts The Caring Generation® family talk radio program for caregivers and aging adults this coming Wednesday, November 4th, on the Bold Brave Media Network. The program airs live at 9 p.m. EST. The Caring Generation® aired initially from 2009 to 2011 on 630 KHOW-AM in Denver, Colorado.

Caring for Elderly Parents Stress Relief Strategies

The emotional aspect of caregiving results in physical and emotional exhaustion, sleepless nights, and anxiety for adult children and spousal caregivers. During this caregiver radio program, Pamela D Wilson shares steps that caregivers can take to balance the stress from feeling pulled in one direction and then another. Young caregivers—those working to build a career while attending college—may feel derailed from achieving their goals. Middle-aged caregivers who were planning for retirement may be engaged in full-time care for aging parents.

My Elderly Parents Stress Me Out

Eldelry parents and spouses needing care can complicate relationships with adult children and spouse caregivers when they refuse to accept help or follow medical providers' recommendations. When caregivers learn to notice signs that emotions are going off track, steps can be taken to halt thoughts that lead to anger or frustration.

Trapped Caring for Elderly Parents

When the brain takes over and creates imagined criticism or suspicion, insecurity rises. Fear and worry can result from relying on assumptions instead of seeking factual information supported by evidence. Being in a negative mental space due to feeling trapped caring for elderly parents can lead caregivers to make mistakes in providing care for aging parents.

Focusing on solutions is a way for caregivers to manage worrisome thoughts. Join Pamela for this show to learn how to stop unrealistic ideas from derailing caregiving relationships.
