Ten Great Ways to Save Money in 2018 from Money-Saving Specialist Marilyn Anderson
Since it's the beginning of the year, money-saving specialist, speaker and author Marilyn Anderson is offering fabulous tips on how to save big in 2018.
Her new personal finance book, How to Live Like a MILLIONAIRE When You're a Million Short, helps people save thousands of dollars and enjoy life more... all year long! Anderson says there are things people can do every month that will add up to huge savings.
Some tried-and-true money-saving tips:
1). Ask stores if they price match. Many stores have things "on sale" that are actually more expensive than regular prices elsewhere. Some stores that price match are Best Buy, Staples, and Nordstrom.
2). Comparative shop. If you see something you like at a store but it's too expensive, check the label, then look online. Chances are you will find it for much less. Make it a habit to visit online sites that give discounts.
3). Instead of going out for dinner, go for happy hour. Many expensive restaurants have super deals on food at happy hour from 4 – 6 pm or after 9 pm.
4). When you eat out, use Groupons, Living Social or Restaurant.com for discounts. Stock up on their vouchers when the sites have sales; they frequently offer discounts on their discounts!
5). Instead of buying dresses, rent them! Check out sites such as RenttheRunway.com, LeTote.com, and GwynnieBee.com. Anderson calls Rent the Runway "the Netflix of fashion!"
6). Get your hair done for FREE by being a hair model. Check out SalonApprentice.com or go to Craigslist under beauty, and write "model" in the search bar.
7). Join groups that can get you into events, movies, or theater at super low prices. i.e. Moviepass.com -- go out to movie theaters for only $9.95 a month; or for live theatre, organizations like Goldstar.com, SoldOutCrowd.com, TheaterExtras.com, or Filaseat.com. For possible extra savings, tell them Marilyn Anderson referred you.
8). For medical prescriptions, check the $4 generic list at your drugstore or go to MyFourDollarDrugList.com; if your medicine isn't on the $4 generic list -- go to Good Rx.com. It's free to get a card, and you may get your drugs for even less than with your insurance co-pay.
9). Buy (and sell) your clothes and jewelry from consignment shops or online at sites like tradesy.com, poshmark.com, thredup.com and therealreal.com
10). Get the book, How to Live Like a MILLIONAIRE When You're a Million Short to learn all kinds of great money-saving tips. www.HowtoLiveLikeaMillionaire.com
