Ateba Crocker is a woman with a vision to see more teens involved in the most important human rights' fight of their lives. Freedom is what inspired Ateba Crocker to start Teen Revolt.

Ateba Crocker, the visionary of Shoe Revolt and now Teen Revolt, is a survivor of sexual abuse and prostitution. Crocker's own experience and desire to see others free from the trappings of the sex industry inspired her to do more, so she created Shoe Revolt. Shoe Revolt, a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, is a hybrid start-up company that started out raising funds for programs that rescue and restore victims. As Ateba built Shoe Revolt, she quickly realized that there was a need to educate teens in order to empower them to fight against predators that seek to take away a human being's right to freedom and decided to change Shoe Revolt's fundraising focus to creating and funding a teen preventive program.

Ateba Crocker is quoted as saying, "As a mom, it's personal. The attack on young people in the United States is sobering. The scope of the problem is large." 800,000 youth are reported missing each year. One in five girls and one in ten boys are sexually exploited before age 18 (National Center of Missing and Exploited Children). Within 48 hours, one in three runaways will be approached by a pimp. 77% of adult prostitutes were trafficked into the trade as children. 75% of minors engaged in prostitution have a pimp. This problem is detrimental to the safety of our youth. FBI Innocence Lost National Initiative: Statistics (as of April 2011): The number of children recovered from sex traffickers is only just over 1,600. The rest remain missing.

Action needs to take place to reach and educate teens about the hidden danger of sex trafficking. This drives Ateba's passion and her will to take a risk and leap into starting Teen Revolt. She knows that Teen Revolt can have massive social impact in the United States and abroad.

Ateba's goal is to create a social franchise which deploys teen chapters nationwide to generate social impact through peer-to-peer education and activism. Teen Revolt's mission is to equip teen leaders to start chapters in middle and high schools. Those chapters will teach about the recruitment tactics of pimps who lure teens into the sex industry. Teen Revolt is a preventive program. Its goal is to help teens build awareness about the pimps who seek to enslave them and to empower teens to release their entrepreneurial spirit to raise funds for teen outreach programs and awareness campaigns that educate peers about the hidden dangers of sex trafficking.

Sergeant Louis Felini of the Dallas Police states, "I have been in law enforcement for over 20 years and have seen first hand the evil and harm done to victims of commercial sex trafficking. Shoe Revolt takes a proactive approach in educating teens about the crimes and trappings of domestic trafficking in order to keep youth safe. I believe in the mission of Shoe Revolt and Ateba Crocker, a survivor herself, and thank her for allowing me to be a part of this endeavor."

Ateba's mission is clear, to prevent pimps' ability to recruit youth through peer-to-peer education and teen activism. To learn more about teen revolt visit www.teenrevolt.org today. If you know a teen interested in starting a chapter, contact Ateba at teenrevolt@shoerevolt.org.
