—TeamChildren announces 'Join Our Team' Event on Wednesday, July 20th—

AUDUBON, Pa., July 19, 2011 —TeamChildren® announced today that it will be hosting its "Join Our Team" event Wednesday, July 20th, from 10am-3pm. The event is open to anyone who would like to help distribute low cost, refurbished computers to low income families, schools and organizations before school starts. And to learn how a small group of people can make a real difference in the lives of others.

"Join Our Team" is a great opportunity to do something concrete and meaningful for the community and to learn more about their dynamic early childhood education program, "Early Learning Plus". TeamChildren is offering free food for all volunteers who come out to help.

TeamChildren has found homes for over 10,000 computers throughout the Northeast, across the country and even in places like Africa. Their goal is to distribute 999 computers before the beginning of school this September and to continue to distribute thousands more, in a bold effort to eliminate the Technology Divide.

As a result of TeamChildren's technological divide effort, thousands of children are now able to complete their homework, do research, look for jobs, apply for college and learn at their own pace and interest level, in the safety and comfort of their homes.

Recently, TeamChildren helped St. Raymond's Catholic School refurbish computers donated to them, then provided printers for their classrooms. They helped Green Street Friends School acquire low-cost laptops to replace many of their aging computers. TeamChildren has partnered with Lutheran Children's Services, Tabor Children's Services, and hundreds of other schools and organizations serving children.

TeamChildren recently completed a significant three year early-childhood education pilot project, called Early Learning Plus with ASPIRA of PA, which serves mostly low-income, Hispanic children in North Philadelphia.

This past year, Early Learning Plus worked with 31 classrooms of teachers, from preschool to first grade. They began a physical wellness component of the project using methods of neurological development that are powerful, provocative and produced extraordinary results in a very short period of time–all for less than $1,000 per classroom. Students were taught how to identify pictures of primates, flowers, presidents, world leaders, composers, great art masterpieces and hundreds of other "bits" of knowledge. And they had fun doing it. The results far exceed present standards. Some of the kindergarten children are reading and doing math at a 2nd grade level before going to the first grade. The verdict is in, Early Learning Plus is a success.

TeamChildren's 'Join Our Team' event promises to be a meaningful day of service for residents of the Philadelphia area. And a great opportunity to see first hand how a small group of volunteers can make a huge difference in people's lives. TeamChildren is located at 960 West Rittenhouse Road in Audubon, PA, 19403.
