The Baltimore Sun has turned its personnel announcements section, previously managed by the newsroom, to its advertising department. Listings for new hires, promotions and awards will now cost $250 per entry.
In a “Dear Colleague” letter by Sharon Nevins, vice president of advertising, the new Wednesday advertising section will be called “Who’s Who in Local Business.”
The listings are guaranteed to run within 30 days of placing the order and will include up to 175 words, the individual’s photo and a company logo. A $50 discount is offered to governmental organizations, charities and civic organizations with under $5 million in revenue.
“We believe this new platform will provide business, organizations or clients with a guaranteed opportunity to support their employees and company,” Nevins wrote.
Earlier in 2017 the Baltimore Business Journal, Washington Business Journal and Citybizlist began charging for personnel news announcements.
Citybizlist now charges $100 for personnel announcements, board positions, promotions and other people announcements. The Baltimore Business Journal and Philadelphia Business Journal charge $250 and the Washington Business Journal charges $350 for each listing.
