It is predicted in a number of years the amount of plastic in the ocean will outnumber the number of fish. There is only one way to prevent this, and it’s by reducing our use of plastic and the way we enforce or do not enforce how it is discarded and processed once the single use item has been used. Those of us who do not have authority to influence these decisions must stand idly by and see our world destroyed. You on the other hand who have the authority to make the difference have an opportunity in your hands to change the outcome for every inhabitant of the earth and the oceans. Please do what is right and use your authority as an opportunity to stop the destruction of our oceans. Support this bill. Protecting the oceans from destruction is a service to the entire globe and to every person on it. Normajean Bowen, Camp Verde AZ

Our planet & everything on it is in danger from plastics and other pollutants.  We must change our habits now. Support this bill. If the world is healthier so am I. Georgia Braithwaite, Cottonwood AZ

Plastic is clogging up our rivers and oceans killing wildlife and poisoning our bodies. I might live a few more years if this bill is passed. John Peterkin, Cottonwood AZ

Plastic is killing animals, is not healthy for humans, and is backing up at landfills and/or recycling centers.  Tobey Thatcher, Green Valley AZ

The presence of man-made materials and objects poses huge risks to cetaceans and other marine life through entanglements and ingestion. Support this bill. It’s important that we keep the oceans as clean as possible for them in the long run.  Laurice Dee, Mesa AZ

Plastic pollution is endangering our animal friends and our planet. The Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act would improve the quality of people’s lives, including me. It would lead to less greenhouse gas emissions to curb climate change. My mind would relax a little, knowing that my animal friends are being protected. Jill Smith, Mesa AZ

Protect Nature and protect humanity. Support this bill. I would know the Earth is better off if we pass this bill. Stephan Donovan, Oro Valley AZ

Plastic while “innocent” looking is one of the most deadly pollutants we have to contend with.  It is clogging up the the seas and oceans and KILLING the innocent inhabitants of those seas and oceans!  Ultimately, we are also killing ourselves because we are ingesting that very plastic that we “think” we “need”. Support this bill. The water would be clean of plastics and the wildlife would not be poisoned by the plastic and we humans would not be ingesting plastic. Support this bill and WE WOULD ALL WIN! Judith Castiano, Peoria AZ

Plastic pollution has no where to go.  Our oceans and rivers are full of it.  It doesn’t go away so we must stop using plastic that is a one-time use. I am on a journey to stop using plastic bags and will soon start using companies that have other forms of solutions like strip laundry and bar or pill forms of soap, shampoo etc., without using plastic bottles.
Yvonne Marley, Peoria AZ

The fate of humanity is at stake. Plastic and all fossil fuels are poisoning us and destroying the health of the planet. All fossil fuels must end immediately! Humans must transform now to become sustainable or we will go extinct. Kyle Schmierer, Phoenix AZ

Plastics have become a global threat to all life. What originally appeared to be a universal boom to human existence has become just the opposite. Plastics degrade in ways that makes innocent animals confuse them for a food source. When plastics do not degrade to resemble food, they strangle and impinge on habitats. Their sheer volume displaced whole habitats as is evidenced by incredibly large masses of plastics at sea. Reduced plastic pollution improves future life chances for the whole terrestrial biosphere.  We need a plastic-free ocean and our animal friends and food sources consuming non-plastic real food. Rose Leather, Phoenix AZ

Plastic is destroying the oceans and the planet. Plastic is killing sea life and humans. Stop producing it. Get plastic out of the food I eat and the water I drink.
Mark Grenard, Phoenix AZ

We cannot continue to ignore what plastic pollution is doing to our country, our oceans, landfills and environment. These plastics do not breakdown and will forever be an eyesore if we do not start finding ways to break it down. We need sustainable methods to move on past using plastics and starting now. Supporting the bill will stop plastic pollution and will help end our dependence and use of plastic.
Melvin Bautista, Phoenix AZ

Reducing plastic waste is important because plastic production requires an enormous amount of energy and resources. This causes carbon emissions and contributes to global warming. Recycling plastic is NOT efficient – only 9% of plastic ever produced has been recycled. About 60% is discarded in landfills and oceans, harming our planet because it takes hundreds of years to decompose, if at all. Pass this bill and we will see our oceans and animal life free of this harmful substance and a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This benefits me along with future generations of humans and animals.
N Huether, Phoenix AZ

Nature is drowning in plastics, which do not deteriorate but continue to pile up as we consume more and more. Support this bill. It would bring me so much peace of mind to know that something is being done to help restore the balance to our planet for the future of my granddaughter and others beyond her.
Crystal Rector, Phoenix AZ

It is my strong belief that, by helping reduce and prevent plastics pollution, the Act would benefit every conscious, compassionate, and caring person in this country – and the world.
Vaida Mal, Phoenix AZ

We are destroying ecosystems and endangering wildlife with our excessive and careless disposal of single-use plastics. I think a great place to start is to ban plastic grocery bags. Every single person can be responsible and bring their own shopping bags to the grocery store. Support this bill. I would feel great satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment in making an honest and effective effort to curb pollution both locally and globally if we could get this Act passed.
Neal Helfman, Prescott AZ

Because of landfill overfill of plastics, it takes years to decompose and threatens wildlife. The passing of this bill would help our general health. Jennifer Wolff, Salt Lake City AZ

The ecosystem of the earth is MORE important than the convenience of plastic. It’s far past time to start limiting the use of plastic!!! It’s not clear to me that plastic is better than other materials that could perform essentially the same functions. Support this bill and we could stop killing the animals of the earth with our plastic!!!
John Nowlin, Scottsdale AZ

Reducing plastic waste is important because plastic production requires an enormous amount of energy and resources. This causes carbon emissions and contributes to global warming. Recycling plastic is not efficient – only 9% of plastic ever produced has been recycled. About 60% is discarded in landfills and oceans. Support this bill. The passing of the bill would give me hope for the future of our planet. Kelly Byrnes, Scottsdale AZ

Support this bill. It would mean less plastic production, less fossil fuels, like coal and natural gas. It will protect our environment and clean up our places from ugly, harmful plastics. Karen Kravcov Malcolm, Scottsdale AZ

To stop plastic pollution, we will need a BIG reduction in the manufacturing of single-use products.  Innocent animals are dying for our stupidity and greediness. Support this bill so we will not need to reeducate out children!!  Leticia Garcia, Scottsdale AZ

I have all kinds of plastic spoons and forks that get added to take out orders that I get these days, fruits, esp. Berries are in plastic containers, supplements are in plastic containers, my vinegar is in plastic bottles. So much of the products I am purchasing are in plastic, even if I don’t want it. I reuse every plastic bag I use for bulk food items, use my own grocery bags, until now, when my pick-up or deliveries are in plastic bags. They are everywhere. Support this bill. It would make a difference to see less plastic in my recycle container and would give me the reassurance that there would be less plastic in the world at large. Patricia Always, Sun City AZ

We have to save the environment and our water fowl and mammals and all of our fish. Support this bill. It would help me sleep better at night knowing that other people care about life in the ocean—sportsmen, fishermen, and our people in this world who love fish. Richard Dibenedetto, Surprise AZ

We need to slow down the plastic pollution to the land and waters; we need to protect the environment and the animals who live on this earth. The cost of continued use of plastic must be felt my those who use it, not those who are negatively impacted by it.  There is the carrot, having an alternative, and the stick, a tax on plastic would help to reduce the production and use of plastic. Lois Zeidman, Tempe AZ

Plastic is killing our oceans, which is killing our food supply and the other animals that cohabit the earth with us.  Christine Kasten, Tucson AZ

We must stop the use of plastics in order to clean up the ocean and the environment immediately. We are killing wildlife, the planet and ultimately ourselves and our descendants. Support this bill. The bill would bring peace of mind and a living legacy for our children and grandchildren. Dorcas Daly, Tucson AZ

Plastic is ruining the Earth. It’s everywhere and virtually impossible to destroy. Support this bill. I would be given more choices. I would not be forced to buy things that are prewrapped in plastic when there is no alternative. Fritzi Redgrave, Tucson AZ

Please support this eminently essential bill – H.R. 5845; and S. 3263. This is crucial! In the short span of the COVID-19 mitigation in progress, we have already seen a marked improvement in air and (inland fresh) water quality. We need systematic legislation and banning the production and use of virtually all–especially disposable–plastics. We need the creation of totally (quickly) biodegradable substitutes for conventional plastics. We need to abate ongoing, mounting introduction of nano plastics into the water, air, soil, and the vast interdependent food chains upon which all life on this planet depend.
