How Do You Deal With The Big Picture Items You Need And Then Also Not Neglect The Details?

Most entrepreneurs fail not because they can’t see the future — but because they miss what’s right under their noses.

I’ve wrestled with that a lot and recently heard about someone who is mastering it — and getting some very positive results.

The problem is seeing the big picture and the tiny, but important details and being able to bounce back and forth as needed.

You and I can learn a lot from David Risher.

He is the CEO of the ride-sharing service Lyft who had previous experience with both Microsoft and Amazon.

He uses what he calls Falcon Mode as the ability to see the big picture and also to shift over to dive into the minute nitty-gritty details.

This is what a falcon does from its perch on high, either flying or perched in a tall tree.

Falcons don’t file reports. They pounce.

That’s the mindset shift for us as Content Creators — less endless analysis, more decisive action on what matters.

If you’re running a business, you need this same ability in your marketing, your offers, and your customer experience.

When a falcon sees something it needs to attend to on the ground in detail, it is able to swoop down rapidly and deal with what needs to be done — getting breakfast or a nice snack in the afternoon.

One observation Risher shared is that we need to solve the anxiety, not just the need.

THIS is a big deal for you and me!

Lyft heard about a lot of anxiety their riders had, particularly women, fearing for their safety.

So, they talked with riders and came up with a program called Women+ Connect. They addressed the issues and created a solution that helped women feel more at ease.

Another feature David Risher and his team introduced is their Price Lock feature.

They lock in the price, going away from Uber’s “surge pricing.”

In their research, they found surge pricing was a disturbance for people. So, their Price Lock program gives reassurance to riders.

They didn’t just address the pain. Lyft addressed the anxiety their customers were facing regarding both of these issues.

Using these two areas of concern to users — and focusing on specifics — they were able to institute new policies that have improved business results significantly.

These aren’t the only areas that the Lyft team has addressed.

However, they use the “Soar and Dive” analogies regularly to solve problems.

These new policies helped generate more revenue for Lyft and improve life for their rapidly growing community of riders and gig drivers.

How’s that working out for Lyft? Q3 2025:

1. $4.8 billion gross bookings (up 16% YoY)

2. $1.7 billion revenue (up 11% YoY)

3. Active riders up 18%

In other words… they’re printing money by calming nerves.

This is what you and I need to do. Focus on the big picture using AI tools like Perplexity, Grok, and yes, ChatGPT 5.1 to find what is going on in the big picture.

Our Stark Raving Entrepreneurs members are now using Ask Studio for YouTube analysis for both a big picture and minute detail.

The results are amazing!

These tools can serve as your “check the pulse of the market” tools.

I’ve found these tools help me find out what is really going on, versus simply “My gut tells me…”

Research and data are often much more reliable than a gut feeling!

View this as a falcon perched on that tallest tree looking down and around.

Then, when there is something that needs to be done, the falcon swoops down and takes decisive and prompt action on the details.

So, the answer is…

Big picture for direction, tiny details for dominance.

Bounce between the two all day without getting whiplash.

That’s Falcon Mode.

Lyft identified areas of anxiety (key term) and dominated those fields.

Be known for something unique to you — and do it extremely well.

This is what Gina has been telling me and — once again — she is right.

Know when to soar and when to dive.

Tools like ChatGPT (particularly version 5.1), Perplexity (particularly with Labs), and Grok (just because it is so wildly useful!) rank high for me for business-building.

We also LOVE (yes, all caps) other tools like Castmagic, Taja, and Gamma.

And, of course, that fabulous Ask Studio is blowing us away with its capabilities.

Our Stark Raving Entrepreneurs members are now using Ask Studio to spot exactly which videos to double?down on — it’s like getting a performance coach and research team in one.

You don’t have to be an expert in all the tools.

That’s not what a CEO (like YOU for your company) does.

The CEO knows WHAT a lot of tools CAN do but doesn’t use them all herself or himself.

(Inside insight — AI Agents are the ticket for you and me in this and other areas!)

So what are you doing in the big picture and then with the details?

Let me know how you are Soaring and Focusing back and forth.

Our Stark Raving Entrepreneurs members are raving about the new YouTube tool, Ask Studio,  that helps accomplish both of these.

Ask Studio is a free tool that gives you instant Falcon Mode for your channel.

Then it gets into details about what is going wrong and what is going right.

Here’s a video I put together about it that you’ll love:

Let us know what you think. I look forward to hearing back from you.

To Your Success,

Terry

P.S. Big picture + tiny details = unfair advantage. This free tool hands it to you on a silver platter. Don’t sleep on it:
