Women in Film & Video (@WIFV_DC) hosts the premier Mid-Atlantic conference, Nov. 17-19, for screenwriters, directors, actors, editors and producers seeking to connect and learn from award-winning film, TV and multi-media experts. Master classes provide in-depth tips, techniques and networking opportunities.

“As we mark our 12th year of ScriptDC, WIFV is excited to offer access to high caliber experts covering the full spectrum of film production, script writing and animation. This year’s conference brings a fresh twist with our spotlight on China and its burgeoning distribution opportunities”, said  Carletta Hurt, president of WIFV-DC.

This year’s program, to be held at American University School of Communication. includes:

Directing Master Class with Joan Darling. She is the first woman to be nominated for an Emmy® award for television directing with credits including M*A*S*H* and THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, as well as feature film.  She is a regular instructor at Sundance and AFI directing labs.

Universal Storytelling & Writing the Feminine Heroic Journey with Dara Marks and Deb Norton.  Media is global, your story must be as well!  Marks and Norton bring extensive practical expertise to this full-day master class.

Gaming and Animation Master Class with Robert Hone, Marina Martins and Bruce Nesmith. No need to move west when you can learn from the best in the DMV.

Writing the Limited Series Master Class with Diana Kerew, Alana Sanko, and Dara Padwo-Audick – These women bring decades of experience in producing, writing, story editing and directing to help you adapt your writing project to the limited series structure and the many distribution platforms available to indie filmmakers.

Pitch, Finance, Market, and Distribute with Laurie Scheer, Michelle Mower, Sara Elizabeth Timmins, Carolyn McDonald, Phil Contrino, and Deborah Riley Draper.  This panel brings network, studio, and indie experience to cover how to get your television, features and docs to audiences.

Michael Uslan and David Uslan will present the Outlook for Independent Filmmakers in China followed by a screening by a Chinese independent filmmaker. Building on their successful film career, including the BATMAN series, they are developing China-based projects.

Script Critiques, Pitch Critiques, Formatting with Final Draft, and Hacking the Creative Resistance are available on November 19.
