It’s Memorial Day. And that means a fun and happy holiday that kicks off summer. It’s all about the barbecue, beaches and being with friends and family.
While it is all of that, it’s much more. Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May, has much more solemn origins. It was created to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
It was originally known as Decoration Day, and it originated on May 5, 1866 in Waterloo, New York when a Union general was looking for a way to honor local residents who were service members that died during the Civil War. It became an official federal holiday on May 30, 1971.

There are a number of ways to honor our lost heroes: Flying the US Flag at half-staff till noon, placing flags or flowers on the graves of veterans, offering donations to charities that aid the families of service members who died serving their country.
I decided to write a musical score and used it to create this musical video to commemorate those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We owe a debt of gratitude to those who serve to keep us safe and free.
I hope you enjoy this original Memorial Day musical tribute and have a wonderful holiday with friends and family as we celebrate the lives and commitment of our fallen heroes.
The song is called, Remember The Fallen. It features Ben Schwendener on piano and Ewe Steinmetz on saxaphone. Click on the video image above to watch and listen.
Yours in good health,
