During 2018, we saw our fair share of heartbreak and tragedy, but we also saw the power of the human spirit and the determination people have to make the world a better place.
We’ve seen individuals, brands and organizations taking a stand against injustice and using their resources to inspire social change. We’re proud to be a part of the communications industry in a time when doing good is at the heart of every business model.
Check out our favorite social good ads from 2018 and see how good works are becoming a part of our everyday reality!

Burger King’s “Whopper Neutrality”

The intention of net neutrality was to make sure internet providers treated all online content the same. But in late December 2017, the Federal Communications Commission voted to repeal net neutrality. To help Americans understand what the repeal could mean for them, Burger King produced this clever spot with the following message, “The internet should be like the Whopper: the same for everyone.”

Palau Legacy Project’s “Palau Pledge”

It’s known as the first pledge for good written into a country’s immigration policies. To protect its natural wonders, the small country of Palau designed a passport stamp that tourists and locals would have to sign, holding them accountable for their actions while they visiting the island.

Schweppes’s “The Dress for Respect”

This spot begins with a shocking fact: 86% of Brazilian women have been harassed in nightclubs. To show the prevalence of this problem, Schweppes and Ogilvy Brazil created a dress with sensors that recorded each time the woman wearing it was physically harassed. The results? In about four hours, the three women who wore the dress were touched 157 times.

Barbie’s “The Dream Gap Project”

Girls are three times less likely to be given a science-related toy than a boy, and at age five many girls begin to doubt their potential. This adorable and empowering spot inspired us to help close the gender gap and encourage girls everywhere to pursue their dreams.

Budweiser’s “Stand by You”

Every Super Bowl, Budweiser gives us nostalgic ads that make us emotional. But this year, Budweiser’s Super Bowl ad focused on the good their company was doing for the victims of natural disasters. This particular ad features the Cartersville brewery, which halted beer operations to make 50,000 cans of water for those devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

Stella Artois & Water.org’s “The Wait for Water”

In this thought-provoking video, actor Matt Damon conducts a social experiment were unsuspecting people are asked to wait up to six hours for water – the same amount of time someone in the developing world can spend every day collecting clean water.

Toyota’s “Good Odds”

During the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, this ad had everyone in tears. Through captivating storytelling and statistics, it illustrates the journey of Lauren Woolstencrost, who overcame the odds to win eight Paralympic gold medals. Her story is just one of many that Toyota is highlighting as part of their “Mobility for All” initiative, their mission to make movement better for everyone.

Love Has No Labels’s Rising

PSAs don’t always come in the form of a :60 video. The Ad Council proved this with their first-ever short film. Rising, which tells the story of a diverse but divided neighborhood struggling to overcome rising flood waters and bias in the heart of America. Watch this incredible story unfold and be sure to have a box of tissues nearby!
