Ohio University named SPJ’s Outstanding Campus Chapter and Campus Program of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS — The Society of Professional Journalists announces Ohio University as its 2021 Outstanding Campus Chapter. This award honors chapters for their commitment to SPJ’s mission and to the journalism profession. The Ohio University SPJ chapter excelled above the others.

Each year, SPJ’s 12 regional coordinators and directors select a campus chapter in their region that has shown overall excellence.

Outstanding Campus Chapter finalists are:

• Region 3 – University of Georgia
• Region 4 – Ohio University
• Region 5 – University of Illinois – Urbana
• Region 6 – N/A
• Region 7 – University of Missouri
• Region 8 – Texas State University
• Region 9 – Brigham Young University
• Region 10 – University of Washington
• Region 11 – N/A
• Region 12 – N/A

The Ohio University chapter was also named this year’s recipient of the Campus Program of the Year Award. It was chosen from a select group of campus chapters for its outstanding work in supporting the Society’s missions, members and journalism for both awards.

The winner was announced and recognized virtually at SPJ21 during the Student Summit. The event featured an informal fireside chat with José Diaz-Balart, Anchor of Noticias Telemundo and NBC Nightly News.
