Our German Shepherd puppy, Royce, goes to school twice a week. I take him in our pickup truck. Normally, I only use it around town to take the dogs for coffee or pick up food for the ducks and geese, but it’s easer to go to Royce’s school on the interstate for five minutes rather than crowded back roads in the morning. I’m careful to stay in the right lane, because I’m not driving one of my high performance cars. The speed limit is 55 MPH, and I keep it between 60 and 65 so that I’m not an impediment to traffic even on the right.
People tailgate me in the right lane instead of simply passing me! They weave in and out of traffic without really improving their position. Some are (illegally) taking on a hand-held phone. I’ve seen women applying mascara and brushing their hair.
If you’re doing this every morning and evening for, say, an hour’s commute, what are the odds that you’ll live your life without an accident and injury?
I’m waiting for paleontologists to turn up gigantic vehicles from the Cretaceous which will prove that the dinosaurs became extinct when they learned to drive.
