Nearing the anniversary of the third decade since LANCET unleashed Roy Meadow's baseless "disorder," it is past time for the press, prosecutors and the public to read carefully the fount of all mischief, mayhem and, one might say, family dis-memberment.

The death of Sally Clark (UK attorney wrongly imprisoned for deaths of two infant sons) is tragic validation of a hard truth: that false allegations of child abuse--particularly the emotive MSP--is an eternal injury. No one recovers, not really. Read Meadow's "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy: The Hinterlands of Child Abuse" Scrutinize it at http://web.tiscali.it/humanrights/articles/meadow77.html

The chance that Roy Meadow ever will apologize for making hay of his MSP myth, for being the sine qua non of all MSP family dis-memberments, is zero to none. Therefore, it remains to LANCET editors and publishers to fall honorably on their pens and belatedly to tell the whole truth.

* That Roy Meadow claims to have "shredded" his notes to one of the most sinister and cynical op-ed pieces in the history of purported medical journalism. That LANCET has yet to do any fact-checking or volunteer accountability for ?Hinterlands? and its disastrous consequences.

* That even in Sir Roy?s hour of greatest need during the shadowy days of GMC grillings, not one single person, place or thing was produced to authenticate any of the alleged "facts" in "Hinterlands" Journalists who cobble together fanciful pieces for fame and gain suffer fates yet eluded by the man.

* To this day, despite the brave efforts of at least one incensed gentleman, Roy Meadow has not been made to answer for deliberately saltloading a sick baby (his own words). Any other doctor would have been sacked, never again allowed to "practice" on the unsuspecting public and, in particular, babies and children.

There is more, of course, none of which can restore bearable life to Sally Clark or her infant sons she joins, now again apart from the third son and her loyal and loving husband and family.

Oh, and when will the press notice (see whonamedit.com) that Roy Meadow did NOT first name or identify MSP? Will someone realize from his short reference list following "Hinterlands" that his colleagues publication on "salt poisoning" in the British Isles (where medical genetics offers the best explanation) apparently was too much for him?

Imaginative Roy Meadow seems to have leapfrogged both science and common sense to provide his own "diagnosis," far less than a realistic motivation theory but STILL, as I write, destroying families, costing government and insurance companies, and keeping the courts and press corps buzzing around the world.

In memory of everything good and caring about the Clark family, let us hope that the powers that be, press, prosecutors and the public reread and perceive the hollow and shallow "research" (it can never be replicated and never has been) in the single seminal article that launched MSP unquestioned and literally around the world nearly 30 years ago.

There being no proof, no permission to conduct "research," no notes (shredded or non-existent ab inito?), no scientific methodology, no universally accepted definition, and on and on, EVERY case using any variant name for MSP and a variety of FIBS (fabricated illness by suspicion) should be reviewed.

The self-styled ?experts? in the non-existent ?disorder? must be brought to account for their fraud against the public and parents and caretakers. Genuine causes of physical signs and symptoms in children must be sought and shared. Prosecutors who exploited all-too willing ?experts? now must now legally seek from them return of the defrauded public funds.

Family members must be restored to each other or contact created with no more excuses, delays or false honor paid either to a dishonorable medicine man or the journal whose publication assured Roy Meadow?s attention-seeking would be welcomed and rewarded.

That would, in some small measure, honor Sally Clark?s broken heart. It would be a fitting finality to the LANCET-enabled Roy Meadow?s MSP reign of error and terror.
