LOS ANGELES — Immediately after each month’s four thorough ratings analyses are completed, we try to find a significant nugget to turn into a “Ratings Review Extra.”
The nod this time goes to examining how news/talk outlets fare when their October 2019 (6+) stats are indexed against comparable October 2018 data.
In order to be included in the following summaries, a commercial, English-language news/talk outlet (including online streams, if applicable) had to appear in any of Nielsen Audio’s 48 PPM-markets in both the October 2018 and October 2019 reports.
These October 2019 qualifiers were unlisted in October 2018 and, consequently are not included: WGN, Chicago’s internet stream; KKSF-AM (San Francisco and San Jose reports); KFXR, Dallas; WPGG in the Philadelphia report; WWBA, Tampa; KDFD, Denver; WHK, Cleveland; KMBZ-FM, Kansas City’s internet stream; WLIP (Milwaukee report); WRJN, Milwaukee; and WTMJ, Milwaukee’s internet stream.
Excluded as well is Atlanta’s WYAY, which switched from news/talk to contemporary Christian (WAKL) in May 2019.
