Stephen Noon, who a top strategist for the Scottish National Party, has joined Weber Shandwick as a senior advisor on policy and political engagement issues.
The SNP is the largest political party in Scotland and a leading advocate for independence from the United Kingdom.
Noon was chief strategist for the Yes Campaign, a 2014 Scottish independence referendum that went down to defeat by a 55.3 percent to 44.7 percent margin.
Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wants to hold another independence vote, but the UK Supreme Court ruled in November that such a referendum requires approval from Westminster.
Natalie Buxton, managing director of Weber Shandwick Scotland, called Noon a “highly skilled communications strategies who understands how to engage and excite the public."
Weber Shandwick has offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
