Nina Amir, Inspiration to Creation Coach

Nina Amir shares tips for how and why becoming a successful multi-title author is important.

Creates a platform the author can grow and expand upon.

When planning your first book, there is much to be gained from looking into the future at other potential books or a book series. This is advice that Nina Amir gives when authors come to her asking about publishing their first book.

Amir explains how one book idea led to a second, that actually became her first book. "I first conceived a process I called "the proposal process" and a book to take aspiring authors through it around 2008 or 2009. However, before I could get that book sold to a publisher, I came up with a second book idea, called How to Blog a Book. "

That second idea, How to Blog a Book would actually be published first and she included a chapter in it on the proposal process idea she first had. Later that one chapter would be expanded and would become her second book, from her first idea.

This is a very strong strategic move.

Publishers favor authors who have more than one book in line and they give favor to authors with a viable series or spin-offs of their original idea. Amir teaches that this is a good way to help seal your first writing contract.

In addition to pleasing publishers, it is also a method to keep yourself accountable and allows you to push yourself as an author to always have that next idea. Book one has a chapter that is later expanded to create book two. Book Two has a chapter that is later expanded to create book three and so on it goes. This allows you to constantly nurture and grow your ideas while also growing your fanbase.

Amir explains that she saw this very same thing happen with her books. When her second book launched, she saw a renewal or boost in the sales of her first book.

She also discusses how accountability partners helped her to write. The first book was written in the style that she describes in the book itself, How to Blog a Book. She had a commitment to posting on a regular basis, which kept propelling the book forward.

Her second book, The Author Training Manual was written in eight weeks as the text for her Author Training 101 course. The students received chapters straight off her computer as she finished them, and many of those very same students edited them and also offered anecdotes for the book. This kept her accountable for her actions and ensured the book was not only finished, but completed in a timely manner.

Accountability partners, forward planning and giving yourself a path will ensure you become a multi-title author.
