SimplifyFractions.com is a new math resource website from FreePrintable.net. It offers a quick and easy calculator that reduces a fraction to its simplest form.
"This website is helpful for students not just because it simplifies fractions for them, but because it also provides the steps that go toward the solution," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "Students can learn the process of simplifying a fraction by using the calculator or choosing one of the sample fractions."
Users can enter any combination of numbers into the calculator, including improper fractions. SimplifyFractions.com will calculate the simplest fraction, which includes mixed numbers and whole numbers when possible. Along with the answer, the website provides three different processes: stages of simplification, removing common divisors, and multiplying the greatest common divisors. A pie chart is available at the bottom as a helpful visual in thinking of fractions as percentages.
In addition to the calculator, users can select example problems with different numerators and denominators, which can be helpful for spotting patterns and learning the process for later practice.
SimplifyFractions.com is sister site to AsAPercent.com, which allows users to convert fractions and decimals into percentages, AsAFraction.com, which converts percentages and decimals into fractions, and AsDecimal.com, which converts fractions and percentages into decimals, so that all bases are covered.
There are more than 100 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
