The new website MarketTradingToday.com instantly lets visitors know if stock market trading is happening each day in 2017 and beyond.
"MarketTradingToday.com instantly lets visitors know, via a 'yes' or 'no,' if stock market trading hours are in effect at the time the site is visited," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "MarketTradingToday.com complements our sites BanksOpenToday.com and PostOfficeOpen.com, both of which instantly answer the simple question of whether banks or post offices are open on the day each site is accessed."
Developing MarketTradingToday.com was a more ambitious project, Savetz explained, because the site needed to take into account the reason for closure (weekend, a specific holiday, or the time of day) and short trading days. Time zones can be factored in via a drop-down menu. There's even a countdown clock to the next opening time that displays when markets are closed.
MarketTradingToday.com also has a formatted, printable list of stock market holidays through 2019. Another printable template notes stock market hours, including pre-market and after-market trading as well as quotes and order entry.
"My goal was to make MarketTradingToday.com a quick, one-stop reference to stock market status not only for people in banking and related industries but anyone who has the need to simply know if trading is going on at that moment," Savetz said.
Sister site BanksOpenToday.com saves time by instantly answering the yes-or-no questions of whether banks are open today and if they will be open tomorrow. It also offers a free printable list of Federal Reserve Bank holidays.
Since 2010, PostOfficeOpen.com has let users know if the U.S. post office is open on that day as well as the following day.
