Finding the right words with which to vouch for someone is made easier with the 257 sample recommendation letters and articles at LettersOfRecommendation.net.
"I've just added two dozen more letter templates to the site," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "These new letters include recommendations for everyone from employees and students to service providers and companies."
The 24 new templates include letters for the workplace or job-hunting such as: a letter for a coworker who has been fired, a letter for a boss and one for a freelancer. Other letters are tailored toward specific jobs such as high school counselor, actor or politician.
Letters have also been added for recommending people with academic pursuits such as: Master of Laws, culinary school, drama school and college as well as the Peace Corps.
There are also new letters vouching for: a repair person, a camp counselor, an electrician, a voice coach, a catsitter, a dog walker and a housesitter.
A couple of the letters should only be used in extreme situations, such as a "weak recommendation" letter and one that uses very casual language.
LettersOfRecommendation.net also has several articles with tips on how to write a recommendation letter, how to frame your request for someone else to write one, and what to avoid in a recommendation.
The site also has templates with sample recommendations for adoptive parents, court defendants, immigrants seeking citizenship, renters and interns.
The letters are all free to download and print for individual personal and professional needs. They're best as a starting point to craft a letter that best suits the user's situation. Users can cut and paste the text directly from the site or download a DOC version that can be typed into in Microsoft Word or another compatible program.
"When someone asks you to vouch for them, you're putting your own reputation on the line," Savetz said. "Wording is important, and the examples at LettersOfRecommendation.net can help."
