National Icon Madeleine Albright Celebrated at the First Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame

Denver, CO October 21, 2020 – Colorado Authors' Hall of Fame, the first in the nation to honor and celebrate authors, marked its one year anniversary in September. Among the first and most distinguished CAHoF inductee was former Secretary of State and United States Ambassador to the U.N., Madeleine Albright. She has authored 13 books, ranging from memoirs to books on current events. Albright's most recent books published include #1 New York Times Bestseller Fascism: A Warning which focuses on the trend of authoritarianism in global politics, and Hell and Other Destinations: A 21st Century Memoir detailing her life and career in politics and diplomacy.

While Albright was unable to attend the Induction, she gave a message of gratitude and wisdom for her placement in the Hall of Fame. Other honors Albright has received from Colorado include a placement in the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame.

Albright had this to say about the power of a good book to budding authors. "The best book, like the best speech, will do it all. Make us laugh, think, cry, and cheer, preferably in that order...I was taught to strive not because there were any guarantees of success, but because the act of striving is in itself the only way to keep faith with life."

The next Induction of the Hall of Fame will be held September 18, 2021 at the Renaissance Central Park in Denver, Colorado. Nominations for authors to be inducted are now open to the public on the Hall's website, www.ColoradoAuthorsHallofFame.org. Additional information about the upcoming Induction event, donations, events, board members and future inductees is also available on the website.

Having immigrated to the United States at a young age, the diplomat grew up in Denver, Colorado when her father served as a professor of political science for the University of Denver. Since then, Albright followed in her father's footsteps and grew to political prominence as the first woman Secretary of State under the Clinton Administration and advocating for issues surrounding women's rights all around the world.

At the first induction of the Colorado Authors' Hall of Fame Albright was joined by other acclaimed female authors like sci-fi author Connie Willis, mystery writer Margaret Coel, and history author Jill Tietjen.

The public is invited to visit the website, read the criteria for nominations, and nominate authors who they believe would be ideal to include in the 2021 celebration.

The Hall strives to educate the people of Colorado and the country about the stories of the authors who shaped their works using their personal presence and the environment of our State with courage, leadership, intelligence, compassion, and creativity. Inductees are authors who've made a major impact on others with their words. To make sure their legacies never die.
