This week, Mayor Muriel Bowser will celebrate the start of the 2019-2020 school year with several #BackToSchool events, her office reports.

For Georgetowners, the big news is that Hyde-Addison School is back. The only public elementary school in Georgetown now has another building that links Hyde and Addison.

The mayor will be at 3219 O St. NW at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, to cut the ribbon at the official opening of the renovated, expanded school. The new addition includes classrooms and a gym.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, she will cut the ribbons on the modernized Calvin Coolidge High School and the new Ida B. Wells Middle School.

Students return to Hyde-Addison on Thursday, Aug. 29.
