Ownership of The Business Monthly, the business publication covering Howard and Anne Arundel counties, has changed hands, according to the company. Daniel Medinger has purchased the publication and its digital outlets from current owners Becky Mangus and Cathy Yost. The transaction takes effect Sept. 1, 2018, according to a post on the publication’s Facebook page.

“This is a very exciting opportunity,” said Medinger, an Ellicott City resident. “We live in a very vital and dynamic business community. I look forward to telling the story of how our community works. Our business leaders and creative employees make products and services that help us at home and people around the world. [Publishing] The Business Monthly is a great opportunity to share that news in both print and digitally.”

Mangus, publisher, and Yost, the co-owner who ran business operations including advertising sales, will continue working with Medinger for several months through the transition. They purchased the newspaper from the previous owner in 2002. In 1986, Medinger was named CEO of the Cathedral Foundation, a Catholic non-profit chartered with the State of Maryland, which produced the archdiocesan newspaper, The Catholic Review, which he led as associate publisher and editor. He also managed and owned Advertising Media Plus in Columbia.

Coster Communications announced its newest client, the International Edgar Allan Poe Festival & Awards. The Poe death weekend celebration is set for Oct. 6 and 7, 2018.

Ignition Digital, a full-service digital marketing agency, was launched by Gina Ramsey, a 13-year veteran in the digital marketing industry who previously worked as VP at Adventure Web Interactive. The new firm, based in Baltimore, has a staff of four and offers services including website design, online reputation management, content creation, search engine optimization, social media posts, and photography and videography. “For the past year or two, I felt like something was missing,” Ramsey wrote in a blog post announcing the move to start her own firm. “I felt like I was no longer in control. I was working a crazy number of hours and felt like a hamster on a treadmill. I was losing touch with my clients and referral partners. My activity was not productive and I was constantly stressed.”

Beatty Development Group and Armada Hoffler Properties announced that Jellyfish, a UK-based digital marketing agency, has signed an office lease at Wills Wharf, the next mixed-use building set to deliver at Harbor Point in Baltimore. Jellyfish opened its U.S. headquarters in Baltimore in 2014 and will relocate from its current location at 250 S. President Street to Wills Wharf in late 2019. Jellyfish will occupy a full floor of the new building, leasing 34,500 square feet. “In 2015, our global headquarters relocated to The Shard, an awe-inspiring tower in the heart of London." said Rob Pierre, CEO, Jellyfish. “Calling that Trophy building home allowed us to create an award-winning environment for clients and provided a workspace where our employees enjoyed being a part of each and every day. We wanted to replicate that in Baltimore and believe we’ve found it at Harbor Point.."
