Many cheating spouses and significant others got caught on New Year's Eve, according to infidelity expert Ruth Houston, who has been researching infidelity for over 20 years. 

Houston says most cheaters – both male and female - have one thing in common that usually results in exposing  their illicit affairs. 

"As midnight approaches, most cheaters simply can't resist the urge to contact their secret lover to wish them "Happy New Year.  This is their undoing, because this is how most of them get caught."

Houston also points out another way many cheaters get caught by their partners on New Year's Eve.

Studies show that 75% of people having an affair are cheating with co-workers or friends.  So it's possible the cheater, the secret lover, and the infidelity victim all attended the same party on New Year's Eve. If so, the body language of the two cheaters, or their behavior around each other was the thing that gave them away."

Much of this infidelity may have been accidentally discovered by unsuspecting mates.  But many spouses or significant others who were already suspicious knew just what to look for in advance.  An article by Ruth Houston entitled How to Catch Your Cheating Mate on New Year's Eve  told them everything they needed to know.
